It is still hot out there, especially coupling the temp with the dewpoints, giving us readings in the mid 90s, but the heat does not meet the criteria for heat advisories today. Nonetheless, be careful if you are working outside.
A cold front to our west will move into the area later this evening, dropping the temps and causing storms to form. This is not a major storm outbreak, but any thunderstorm has the potential for danger. These storms will pop up, so keep an eye on the sky. I expect storm activity to start after 2:00 pm. The main threat from these storms will be wind gusts. No tornado activity nor hail is expected.
Next week our temps drop to the low 80s and upper 70s with lower humidity. There is the potential for tropical development in the Gulf of Mexico. I am watching it as some models take it up the east coast. I will keep you posted. "Chris", in the Atlantic, has been downgraded from a hurricane to a tropical storm. See, even as a tropical system I make sure to keep people safe .....
Currently there are no watches/warnings issued. If they are issued I will keep you posted. Follow me daily on Twitter (@wxmanmd) and my Weather Phone will be updated as needed (443-470-9804).
