I live right in the middle of the lower peninsula of Michigan. Our Great Lakes protect us from much of the extreme weather in other states.

Although too hot for my liking, our weather here has been wonderful. Tuesday night's moon was beautiful and we sat outdoors until the wee hours of the morning just enjoying it. Although some are claiming that it was a "blue moon", I don't buy it. I go with the "two full moons in a month" definition. I don't know who dreamed up this other one. But call it what you will, it produced a glorious night for those of us who could really take it in. Last night looked like it was really going to be a stormy one, but most of the rain eluded this area. We had about 5 minutes of hard sprinkle and that did it. They really do need the rain up here and a high fire danger remains in effect for all of northern Michigan. It seems that most campers have packed it it for the season and our campground is only about 1/3 full. That suites me fine. The past two days have seen temps up to 90F, but the cold front moved through last night and it should be quite comfortable for our remaining time here. The rail trail is just across the highway from our campground and plan to use it quite a bit this week.
Right now in Topinabee, the temp is 70F, the humidity is 84%, and winds are from the northwest at 4mph. Skies are clear and the dew point is 65%.
Topinabee is a wonderful little village that sits on the west side of Mullett Lake. They just completed their little village park on the lake, and the rail trail goes right through it. It's a great little oasis for those riding the trail. Our campground is one mile south of Topinabee.
Today: Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 82. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.
Tonight: Clear, with a low around 50. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light after midnight.
Friday: Sunny, with a high near 75. Calm wind becoming northeast around 5 mph in the afternoon.
Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 47. Calm wind.
Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 79. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph in the morning.
Saturday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy, with a low around 60.

This morning was very chilly with our 8 AM temp only at 50F. It is now 11 AM and it hasn't warmed up much, only 61F. At least it is sunny but quite breezy. We had intermittent rain showers yesterday but nothing extreme. In all, we only received 0.04" of rain. Counties to our south received the good stuff . . . . thunder and lightning. There was even a few severe warnings issued briefly late in the day. The southern half of the lower peninsula has certainly received enough rain for awhile. We seem to be right on the border of these storms and usually only get the edge. But that's okay. We could go a whole week without rain and be fine. A local meteorologist has predicted exactly that for us. We'll see if he's right.
Right now (11:15 AM EDT), our temp is 60F, the humidity is 39% and skies are mostly clear. Winds are from the north northwest at 11 mph, gusting to 17 mph. The pressure is 30.01" and steady. The dew point is 47F. Yesterday's high was 72F and the overnight low was 50F.
Today...A slight chance of light showers after noon. Mostly cloudy until noon...Then partly cloudy. Highs 67 to 71. North winds 5 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.
Tonight...Partly cloudy. Lows 43 to 47. Northwest winds 5 to 15 mph.
Wednesday...Mostly sunny. Highs 68 to 72. Northwest winds 5 to 15 mph.
Wednesday Night...Mostly clear. Lows 49 to 53. Light west winds.
Thursday...Mostly sunny. Highs 73 to 77. Light west winds.
Thursday Night...Mostly clear. Lows 51 to 55.
Friday...Mostly sunny. Highs 75 to 79.
HAVE A GOOD DAY!

Yesterday was a perfect day in all respects. Temps were in the upper 70s, just enough breeze to keep the house cool, and sunny skies. Today may be a repeat although it is expected to be a bit warmer. The farmers must really be loving life this season. The corn crop looks fabulous and the wheat did well also. This is quite a contrast from last year. Oh, and we can't forget the hay. I think that they will easily get four cuttings this summer. I took this picture while I was out for a bike ride, and you can see how lush and green everything is. In spite of what the long range forecasts call for, I'm still looking for a late fall with warm temps right into Novermber. I hope I'm right!
Right now (8:30 AM EDT), our temp is 59F, the humidity is 79% and winds are from the northeast but calm at present. The pressure is at 30.00" and steady. The dew point is 53F and visibility is 10 miles. Our high yesterday was 75F and the overnight low was 54F.
Today...Partly cloudy. Highs 80 to 84. Light west winds...Increasing to 5 to 15 mph in the afternoon.
Tonight...Mostly clear. Lows 53 to 57. West winds 5 to 15 mph through midnight...Becoming light and variable.
Saturday...Mostly sunny. Highs 73 to 77. Northwest winds 5 to 15 mph.
Saturday Night...Mostly clear. Lows 50 to 54. Light west winds... Becoming light south after midnight.
Sunday...Mostly sunny until 2 pm...Then partly cloudy. Highs 76 to 80. Light and variable winds.
Sunday Night...Partly cloudy with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Lows 58 to 62. Chance of rain 30 percent.
Monday...Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs 74 to 78. Chance of rain 30 percent.
HAVE A GREAT DAY!

Yesterday, it rained almost all day. There were a few breaks but not many. We received 0.39" in all and our cool temps continue. I saw the extended prediction for August on a local Lansing station last night. They were saying that our temps will be below normal for the month and that doesn't break my heart. If it never gets above 78F, that would suit me just fine.
The rain ended about 8 PM last night although we may have received a few more sprinkles around midnight. But all in all, it was finished by nightfall. This morning is very damp. Our 9:45 AM temp and dew point are 63F (17C), the humidity is 98%, and winds are from the west at 9 mph. The pressure is 29.92" (1012.9 mb) and rising. Visibility is 4 miles. Skies are overcast. We do have the possibility of more showers today although we should see some sun also. Our high yesterday was only 68F (20C) and the overnight low was 63F (17C).
Today: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 10 AM until Noon. Becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon with a chance of thunderstorm development. Highs 76F to 80F. Northwest winds 5 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 40%.
Tonight: Mostly clear. Lows 54 to 58F. Southwest winds 5 to 15 mph.
Friday: Partly cloudy with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs 74 to 78F. West winds 5 1o 15 mph. Chance of rain 40%.
Friday Night: Partly cloudy. Lows 57 to 61. West winds 5 to 15 mph through midnight, then becoming light and variable.
Saturday: Partly cloudy with a slight chance of rain. Highs 72 to 76. Light and variable winds becoming northwest 5 to 15 mph by mid afternoon. Chance of rain 30%.
HAVE A GREAT DAY!
