Tropical cyclone development is not anticipated across the eastern Pacific or the Atlantic Basin on Sunday. In the eastern Pacific, an area of low pressure will have a low, 10% chance to develop into a tropical cyclone. This system will be located approximately approximately 300 nautical miles south of Oaxaca, Mexico. A trough of low pressure will bring a chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms to the southwestern coast of Mexico, while heavy rain and thunderstorms will develop across the Yucatan Peninsula. Mexico City will be partly cloudy with a high of 74(F)/ 23(C), while Cancun can expect thunderstorms throughout the day with a high of 82(F)/ 27(C). Similar conditions will push across El Salvador, Honduras, Belize and Guatemala, while an easterly wave of moisture will bring showers and thunderstorms to Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama. Weather Underground Forecast for Friday, May 30, 2014
Tropical cyclone development is not anticipated across the Atlantic Basin on Friday, while the tropics will wind down over the eastern Pacific. Tropical Storm Amanda is expected to weaken as it takes a hard left turn towards the southwest. This system is forecast to be downgraded to a tropical depression, with wind speeds staying below 39 mph (33 kts). Amanda will bring a chance of scattered showers to the west coast of Mexico. Meanwhile, a trough of low pressure will linger over central and southern Mexico, as rain and thunderstorms will continue to develop across the region. Mexico City can expect thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening with a high of 72(F)/ 22(C). Isolated showers and thunderstorms will also be possible over northern Mexico. Meanwhile, much of Central America will experience stormy weather as an easterly wave of low pressure ushers moisture across the area. Similar conditions will push across the Greater Antilles. Tropical cyclone development is not anticipated across the Atlantic Basin on Thursday, while the tropics will remain active over the eastern Pacific. Hurricane Amanda will be located approximately 150 nautical miles west southwest of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. This system is forecast to weaken as it treks northeastward in the eastern Pacific. Amanda is expected to be downgraded to a tropical storm, with wind speeds ranging between 39 to 73 mph (33 to 64 kts). Showers and thunderstorms associated with Hurricane Amanda will skim across the southern tip of Baja California. Meanwhile, central and southern Mexico will continue to experience showers and thunderstorms on Thursday as a trough of low pressure parks itself over the country. Mexico City can expect thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening with a high of 75(F)/ 23(C). Similar conditions will develop over Guatemala and Belize.
