Big Lake beside the lake trail

By: bawlf , 1:15 PM GMT on March 24, 2014

-12.1 C (10.22 F) with 3.5 km/h N winds. Sunrise 7:26 AM sunset 7:55 PM.

Today 03/24: 0% humidity. Partly cloudy. High -5C. Winds NNW at 10 to 15 kmh.

Tonight: Considerable cloudiness. Low - 13 C.

Went to the Big Lake south shoreline yesterday with stepson and his boxer Zeus. Carlos and Zeus are buddies who stayed together for 2 1/2 weeks while we were away on holidays this past Dec/Jan. They were both grinning as they chased each other through the snow banks and out on the frozen lake. IT WAS VERY PEACEFUL OUT BY THE LAKE WITH NO TRAFFIC SOUNDS. This was the best part about the walk as, even where we live (.9 km to the Yellowhead Highway) the traffic noise is omnipresent.

The Big Lake walk consists of lakeshore then a bush trail that can get quite dense followed by a gravel road. I haven't seen much wildlife out there besides birds and, while walking by myself with Simba, I saw a lone coyote walking across the middle of the lake. It was very cold that day and windy - I figure the coyote was walking across the middle of the lake to keep as far apart from humans as possible as well as having maximum warning if anyone or animal would try and threaten him.
