Tropical cyclone development is not anticipated across the Indian Ocean on Wednesday, while the tropics will remain active over the south Pacific. Tropical Cyclone Ita, located approximately 530 nautical miles northeast of Cairns, Australia, will strengthen as it treks southwestward in the south Pacific. Ita is forecast to be upgraded to a category 2 cyclone, with wind speeds ranging between 96 to 110 mph (83 to 95 kts). Towards the end of the day, this system is expected to be upgraded to a category 3 cyclone, with wind speeds ranging between 111 to 130 mph (96 to 112 knots). Meanwhile, Tropical Depression Peipah is also expected to strengthen as it shifts northwestward in the south Pacific. Peipah is forecast to be upgraded to a tropical storm, with wind speeds ranging between 39 to 73 mph (33 to 64 kts). This system will be located approximately 500 nautical miles southeast of Manila, Philippines on Wednesday. In Australia, a trough of low pressure will continue to inch eastward over the southern tier of the country. This system will bring heavy rain and a chance of thunderstorms to South Australia, New South Wales and Victoria, while scattered showers and stray thunderstorms will linger across the Northern Territory. Adelaide will be very rainy with a high of 71(F)/ 21(C), while Melbourne can expect similar conditions with a high of 71(F)/ 21(C). High pressure over the Great Australian Bight will keep Western Australia clear of precipitation. Perth will be partly cloudy with a high of 86(F)/ 30(C). .
