I live in the county of Somerset (famous for scrumpy cider & The Wurzels), which is in the South West (or West if you prefer) of England.

Between Dec 19th-22nd 2009 i (again) visited the Ice Hotel in the small village of Jukkasjarvi in Sweden. Some of the people that were working there last year (& the year before) remembered me from previous visits.
The temperature there didn't get above -11c (about 12f) but it dosen't feel as cold as that because the air is largely dry.
I travelled to Kiruna (airport) on a direct charter flight from Heathrow with travel company Discover the World & flew with SAS & from there was a bus transfer to the Ice Hotel.
While there i looked at the ice suites which at rooms made of snow & ice with an art theme (different every year), also went on a couple excursions: horseback riding on an Icelandic horse (had to have something to do with Iceland didn't i) & snowshoe walking in the forest. In the ice bar the barman remembred me from previous trips & said to me that this must be my 'local' pub!
If you can do this trip i do recommend it, just bring the correct clothing for the weather & bring sun block etc if you go there when the sun rises above the horizon (it doesn't between December & alot of January).
