Another hot afternoon heading our way then a rare July cool down

By: WrightWX04 , 12:05 PM GMT on July 14, 2014

I hope everybody had a great weekend and had a chance to see the supermoon. Well are you ready for a rare July cool down as well as some much needed rain across North Texas? Yes you read this correctly, this week a strong cold front for the month of July will make its way to the metroplex later this evening. The frontal boundary will hang around for most of the week providing us with below normal temperatures and widespread rain event towards the end of the week. But first we have to make it through another hot day this afternoon. My forecast for today calls for a mostly sunny afternoon with highs near 100┬░, winds blowing out of the southwest 5-10 MPH. Due to day time heating there is a slight 10% chance of some afternoon pop up storms, but the best chance of showers and thunderstorms (40%) will be later this evening as the cold front approaches North Texas. Otherwise, expect a mostly cloudy evening with overnight lows in the mid 70's.
