Trip to DC
Not sure how many photos I will have as so many days we are going places where no cameras or bags can be taken in.

Today was our travel day but we also got in two travel tour spots

Theater in the Woods - Wolf Trap

Wolf Trap National Park for Performing Arts - The Theatre-in-the-Woods at Wolf Trap. The Pushcart Players in An Emmy-nominated theatrical group acts out 4 cherished fables that capture the wonder of live theatre—Little Red Riding Hood, The Princess and the Pea, The Emperor’s New Clothes, and All’s Well That Ends Well.

Air and Space Museum Tower

Plane taking off from Dulles Airport - Photo taking from the viewing tower of the museum.

Radar for my area:- Rain seems to have a hold on us.

Good morning.
We've had some really severe thunderstorms lately. The one that took the tree was about a week ago.
The night before last a tornado was spotted just south of Portage. Luckily no damage has been reported.

The Farmers Market and the Riverwalk Trail and NOT the Butterfly House
Saturday, I procrastinated and did not get to the market until after 10:15 or so. I really had a great time even though all of the good stuff is scooped up within the first hour or so, I managed to find more than enough good stuff. First, I made sure that I got the pretty herbal bouquet for the herbal lemonade. I got a dozen free range eggs. I found fresh purple hull peas already shelled. Believe it or not a little organic farmer already had pretty little pumkins - the ones called pumpkin pie pumpkins. Yes, I bought one! Stopped by the beef man and and picked up beef filets. As I was leaving the market, outside there were vendors, too. I picked up corn - the guy actually let me have two bags for the price of one. Think he was ready to go home.

I think I started out on the trail about 11:15 or so. It was a beautiful day on the river. I had 4 heron spottings with great long photos ops with each. I made it down to the wildflower garden which many others call the exercise stationg. Sometimes I go farther but I had already spent so much time with the herons that it was getting a bit late. I got at least 3 photo ops of trains while walking. It was just a great day.

Oh, and I forgot to say that there were even kayakers on the river - hope they did not have trouble as that area of the river is loaded with rapids, rocks, and sandbars. I have never seen a kayak in that area before.

I usually end up with the Butterfly House or Garden but as I said was getting late on past lunchtime. I even saw the moon though quite pale through clouds.

A new day and I am procrastinating before heading out to the farmers market and the trail! The good stuff get scooped up early but I always seem to find much more than I need. Thinking on one of those fresh herbal lemonade bouquets.

News on the well: And on the third day we started drilling. Right on schedule in Africa time

Everyone have a wonderful day!

Hi YOR! surely hope all will be okay for my son. This is not a pleasure trip or any luxury or leisure at all. I am quite sure he will have stories to tell.

The latest update: A goat,11 chickens,a near riot,a fight,a tanker w/o water,a meeting with driller and a police visit later our day is done.

I am sure these will make a good story some day but puts a little edge on the don't worry mode. I know the goat and 11 chickens they bought at the market and he tasted some sun dried fish but have no details on the near riot, nor the fight, tanker with no water, or the meeting with the driller and definitely not about the police visit - leaves a lot of lines to fill in. Pray for his safety and blessings for the lives being touched.

Hi GG. Thanks for the warm welcome home. I was a tired cookie but am fairly rested now - even did some house cleaning today. Had someone to come in to help me.

I am still sorting photos and going through them. I am thinking of posting the first ladies's dresses first as not a lot of decisions to make with those. Hopefully, this weekend, I will get a new blog entry going with some of the photos.

A baby cardinal - little girl!

Thanks, Sandi! He is a very special son! Just glad they are not both away at the same time on this trip. Last time, he was out of the country, my older son was walking across England.

Hi Shirley,

You son seems to be a free spirit, and as a mother, all we can do is support them, however difficult it might seem.

I am sure all will be well :)

I saw your plea in Poppy's blog about sending photos to approval under the NEW system (yet again a new thing to get used too! )
Anyway, I left you an example which might help you in Poppy's blog :)

Hi to my blog friends, I need everyone's support! Being away with no access for 10 days, means I have not had a chance to share with you. My younger son, once again is off on a mission trip - Please say prayers for him and prayers for me that I can get over the emotional roller coaster. Most of the time I can push it back by talking to myself that this is something he feels very strongly and passionate about and know that if something happens he was doing something he felt led to do for mankind. This is a two week trip but we all know some times there are hitches in projects. But then again an emotional thought floods all over me and the tears come. Hopefully, I will get past that soon. At present, I can not think of it without tears. As I was checking the snail mail from ten days, I found a newsletter from him about this trip and a short thank you note to me also. And you know the tears flooded at that point. I think perhaps saying good-bye to my daughter and family one minute and then seeing him about 20 minutes later to say good-bye to him plus being comepletely beat from my trip has taken a toll on me. My family is everything to me. Sorry to unload on you!

Thanks Pros and WTS! I do have some photos. Seems uploading goes so slow and many of them don't even get to go through main gallery as WU is archiving the ones from the first days of my trip. I want them mainly for my blog anyway so they do show up here. Will try to upload a few more tonight and then I can work with them after getting them uploaded.

Thanks, YOR, Washington DC was very pretty and clean and I felt safe. The Metro was great transit - clean and quiet. Folks got on and off quietly at their stop but either rested quietly or studied their digital device, or actually read real books. No foos oe drink on rhw Metro at all. I only had to stand once during my ten days there.

Hi YelloworangeRose, Yes that was a quilt! I too have a quilt completely finished except for the quilt as you like part.

Hi BriarCraft, I am home and had lots of fun. I just got home about 7:20 this evening. It was with my daughter and two granddaughters and son-in-law.

Hi Sandiquiz, All is well except I am extremely exhausted.

Hi Proserpina, I agree Wolf Trap was a great fun place. We did have a great time. The Air and Space Museum in Chantilly was supper nice.

Hi GardenGrrl:< Thanks for stopping by - we did have a great time!

Hi Sandiquiz, We had much fun and I have zillions of photos but no photos of White House as we could only take a wallet and cell phone and keys and that was the most beautiful of all.. My trip was quite tiring.

Hi Pros, Thanks for stopping by - my trip went well but I am not used to the strenuous walking and metro transit mode with so much walking.

I want to thank each of you for stopping by and keeping my blog alive even though I was not posting. I had no internet after the first night. We changed hotel from Staybridge in Chantilly to the Embassy Suites in DC, and no acess unless you wanted to purchase for $14 or perhaps more a day and for ten days that would have been a bit much. I will share more tomorrow. It is GREAT to be home.

Wolf Trap! I love the place. We used to go there frequently to attend from operas to concerts such as the one with Jesse Stone! Day events, night events, my first attendance after my first year of teaching was there, etc. etc. It really is a great place. And the Museum, another of my favorites. I am sure that you are having a fabulous time!

Have fun on your trip. And have a good time with your daughter. I hope it's just the two of you, so you can have some good mother-daughter fun.

As we say in my family:
See you bye-and-bye after-while, pretty-soon!
