Deep into Summer?

This summer has been quite unusual but far from unpleasant in southern California. There are large fires in Russia where they are dealing with the hottest temps on record (according to reports) and a fair chunk of the US is in the oven. Here it has been below average for the last month (excepting about 3 days), even setting a few 'record lows' now and then. It's 80 now, pretty much high for the day - should be 90+.

I am sure it is not related, but snake sightings at the Animal Park are rare, however 2 weeks in a row (some streak!) I have seen a snake. First, the red diamondback rattler a week ago (photo last entry) and Saturday a nice sized (4-5 foot) gopher snake. Both were off the trails and in no big hurry, did not get to photo the gopher snake. Probably won't see another for a year!

Hot weather is making a come back. I have been really enjoying our cool nights. I spent a few days in Ohio and the humidity wasn't so bad. Got to love all that green!!!
