Upgraded and calibrated sensor suite

By: WUVancW , 6:21 AM GMT on May 10, 2014

I took the liberty of upgrading the solar-powered fan-aspirator with an improved dual solar panel setup, which will keep the fan-aspirator running during all hours of sunlight (crucial now with summer coming). The add-on should reduce the occasional temperature spikes that have been bumping up the temperature readings during early morning and late afternoon hours. I also took the liberty of manually calibrating the temperature (which was only 1 degC too high after the upgrade), barometric pressure (Acurite's automagic calibration was too high), and rain sensor (which was pretty much bang on already). I have to say, at only 1/3rd the cost of a Davis Vantage Vue, it is performing remarkably well.

Now if only the display console could work through the entire length of the house...
