Spring Weather did Finally Arrive, for a Moment

By: SwampDuck, 1:24 PM GMT on April 17, 2014

Temps started rising into the normal range about a week ago. It was very pleasant, mid 50s during the day, low 30s at night. Then a short cold front came in. Hi Tuesday (day before yesterday) was about 28 and the low Wed morning was 12.3 F. A tad chilly. But as the budding of trees and plants seems to be a couple weeks later than I am used to I guess it didn't cause any real damage in my area. Heck, even my crocuses are barely out of the ground, they had flower buds...

More Snow

Only got 1.5 inches last night but it is still annoying. It wouldn't be so bad if the temperatures moderated but they're saying not till April now. So I won't complain anymore till then I guess.

It should be at least 10 degrees warmer than it's been (read that on a wunderground blog somewhere) but last night dropped to -5.8 and it's just over 8 now. Two days ago we reached 51.4 degrees even if it was for only a second or two. Tonight's forecast low is for -13.

I've seen many, many this winter below -10 and many getting close to -20. And when it's windy, it's miserable, even with the sun shining.

I have noticed a good thing though. The forecast highs for over a week now have been beaten anywhere from 5-8 degrees. It may not seem like much but yeste...

A Bit Nippy

By: SwampDuck, 3:01 PM GMT on January 03, 2014

Last night's low here in Barton City, MI, north side of my chicken coop which sits on a little hill under the cedars about 20 feet from the house was -19.3 f. Lowest low I've seen here in years (though I have a vague memory of -26 once). This is the 3rd night in about 5 days of severe lows. Had -18.6 the night before, -11.6 the previous night and the one before that (or was it the night before?) was -19.0 f.

Fortunately there isn't any wind so no signifi...
