Oct. 28: In Swing States, a Predictable Election?
The conventional wisdom about this year’s presidential race is that it has broken out of stasis to become wildly unpredictable.

And yet, after a period of polling turmoil following President Obama’s convention in Charlotte, N.C., and Mitt Romney’s sharp rebound after the first presidential debate in Denver, the polling in most swing states now looks very similar to the way it did for much of the late spring and summer.

When we introduced this year’s FiveThirtyEight forecast model on June 7, the closest states were Colorado, Ohio and Virginia, each of which slightly favored Mr. Obama. In Florida and North Carolina, meanwhile, we had Mitt Romney listed as a modest favorite.

Pretty much the same could be said about the race today. In fact, our projected leader in all 50 states is the same as it was at our launch of the forecast in June.

The table below lists our projected results in the 18 states (and one Congressional district, in Nebraska) that were predicted to produce a single-digit race as of our original forecast in June. On average, our projection of the popular vote in each state has moved by just one and a half percentage points, in one or another direction, since then.

Latest CNN/CBS nation wide poll of likely voters,...49% Obama, 49% Romney. It will all boil down to about how 6 or 7 swing states. It will be razor thin in those states. Look for a long night , Tues into Wed. before we know who wins. The "Fat Lady" will be singing late for somebody!

Is Romney Unraveling?

Evidence continues to emerge that Romney is one of the most dishonest, duplicitous candidates to ever seek the presidency.

Mitt Romney’s campaign insults voters

Mr. Romney, by contrast, seems to be betting that voters have no memories, poor arithmetic skills and a general inability to look behind the curtain. We hope the results Tuesday prove him wrong.

Richteas, you are right, this report was "buried". I hadn't heard about it and I try to keep up on things. The O'Bama re-election team should jump on this and make it known on the campaign. I think it's a failing of their's. Also O'bama has not been pointing out, forcefully enough, that the congress, THE House in particular, has been the "Party of NO". The house would rather see him fail, and have the country suffer for it. Anything he has sent to them, is "Dead on arrival" as the speaker of the House has said , over and over again. How can he get anything done?

Unclemush you beat me to it! So I'll post this:

"In mid-September, the non-partisan Congressional Research Service published a detailed report, documenting the fact that reducing taxes on the wealthy does not, in fact, generate economic growth. Instead, the CRS found, the trickle-down model appears to be "associated with the increasing concentration of income at the top."

The report was no small development. After all, as David Leonhardt noted when it was published, the CRS analysis undermines a "defining economic policy" of modern Republican thought. Indeed, the entire Romney/Ryan economic plan is predicated on the assumption that supply-side theory works, and here was the CRS saying it doesn't."

What's This??? Trickle Down Does NOT Work???
The Congressional Research Service, the service CONGRESS uses to do it's Research Found...

So what do the Republicans DO with the study they ordered done, but then DIDN'T Like the Results of...
The have it BURIED!!!

Can ANYONE SAY COVER-UP??? Mitch, YOU should be Ashamed, very ASHAMED!!!

AND, Now, Stop Perpetuating The Big Lie!

Rant on rich! who's covering up in deed!?

Bloomberg Endorses Obama, Citing Climate Change

sure hope you're right about that bullet LT!
There's a questions about how many of the storm victims will not be able to vote because they are displaced or their life is too disrupted to be able to go to the polls.
Also, some of the Linesmen who traveled out-of-state will not be able to vote if they can't get back home by Tuesday. Some can't get absentee ballots either because they don't have access to mail service in the field.
Other absentee ballot delivery delays in Ohio due to a "computer glitch"

Well Tea, I hope the Fat Lady is singing a "sweeter song". Now! Just a thought ,since this whole site is a Weather Site", can you just imagine if this whole weather event, Hurricane Sandy, took place one week later? It would have been chaos for voting in many states. We've really dodged a bullet here.Oh, rich teas, I'll be answering your WU mail soon, we were rudely interrupted by Sandy, how dare her!

Yesterday, on FoxNews Channel, Governor Chris Christie and President Obama addressed The Nation, and The People of New Jersey, who'd had been devasted by the massive storm, 'Sandy'.
In a now Very Rare Act of Bipartisan Cooperation, coming together to Help The Victims in New Jersey, and also addressing those in the other States, Christie and Obama displayed the type of Team Work that we need in Congress.
So much Attention given to New Jersey with it's Population of over 8 million. And rightfully so.
But with 3 times that number, Over 24 Million Americans Unemployed, WHY is it that REPUBLICANS WOULD RATHER UNSEAT A PRESIDENT, THAN HELP THE 24 MILLION?
They accuse Obama of a Cover Up on Beghazi.
But Their Own Canidate for the job Covers Up, His Taxes, His proposed Tax Plan, The Deductions he would cut, How he stands on FEMA, refusing to even Speak to Reporters. He refuses to say how he stands on The Lily Leadbetter Act, and On and On. So who's really Covering Up?
Then, after saying how He 'Cares About Business'! He tells a Whopper of a Lie in Ohio about Jeep. A Lie so Large and False that the CEO's of 2 Car Comapanies Feel the Need to Respond and Tell the Truth! Is that how a person Cares About Business? Scaring the Employees of a Company into voting for him? Talk about a Cheap Class Act!
But at the end of The Christie/ Obama Press Converence, Neil Cavuto Host on Fox returned to the reporter he had been speaking to about Sandy by saying, "We'll now return to Leventhal who we'd been speaking to BEFORE WE WERE SO RUDELY INTERRUPTED!
Since When did a Govenor/Presidential News Event become a Rude Interruption?
Millions of people affected by a Massive Storm, and it's a Rude Interruption?
Fox, You need to Find a New Host!
And Cavuto, did your Mother never teach you about 'Respect'?
You should feel Very Ashamed. That is IF you even know what that means...

And Once Again Mitt Proves He Should NOT be President!

During a Crisis, we need a President who can comprehend What's Needed, Where and When. And with this Super Storm that's just struck the East Coast, Romney proves he'd do the Wrong Things, when The Correct Ones are Needed So Desperately.

Romney, while hiding out in Ohio, turns his Campaign Event into a so called 'Relief Event' to help the victims of the storm. And while I'm sure the donations will be used somewhere, just How do all those canned goods, clothing, etc GET To the East Coast? Mitt, ya going to pay for shipping?
And IF Mitt had bothered to Speak To Anyone At Red Cross, they would have told him, such items is NOT what's needed nor Helps the Most!
Cash is the Most Helpful Item! It can be spent Where It's Needed on the Items Needed, When They're Needed!
So while the People of the Dayton area are to commended.
Romney proved he was ONLY doing a Photo Op. and not truly CARING for the Victims!
If this is how he'll be President...
Lord, don't let it be so!!!!

And with 25% of the States Declaring States of Emergency, we can be Thankful Romney hasn't had a chance to shut FEMA Down, Yet.

I've heard that FEMA is rather Popular in Florida.
I'd go as far as to say, "Without FEMA, Florida would revert back to One Giant Sand Bar!"

How on Earth could 'The Private Sector' pay for the numerous Hit's Florida takes? What Company or Corporation would build in a place that WHEN (not if) it's wiped out, it gets NO Assistance from the Government in Rebuilding? I guess that's one way to End Corporate Welfare as we know it!
During the Primary, Romney said, it should be up to the States, OR Better Yet, The Private Sector to handle disasters.
My question is "How?"
Let Detroit Go Bankrupt and Let Florida Get Blown Into The Sea?
Sounds like a Fiscal Plan to me....NOT!
