Welcome to The Ark

If you need to get away from all the "end of the world" hullabaloo, well, what better place to hide than an Ark?

Hang out, play some music, have a cookie, some eggnog, or maybe some grog. Be ready to celebrate that we're all still here!

The tutorial for the Youtube code generator is now in Post 7 and 8 of The Ark help files. The link to the generator is now in the right column in my links section here.

Please read the tutorial. It's really easy once you know what to and not to do.

Enjoy!

An interesting story. Perhaps this might be adapted to other forms of life. Say cabbage. Or maybe we could walk around after franks and sauerkraut, deviled eggs, Boston baked beans and beer to harness the power. RTL a growth industry.

A song that I loved as a teen.
Maybe Jimmy had an effect on my outlook on life.
Or maybe I just like the quiet, clean country living.

"'Cause through 86 years of perpetual motion, if he likes you he'll smile and he'll say:

Some of it's magic, some of it's tragic, but I've had a good life all the way!"

Well, the sunset wasn't all that spectacular by local standards, but can't complain.

The weather is fantastic!

Anyway, time to watch the sun go down. Just enough clouds to the West that it out to be really nice. Back later...

YCD,
I know what you mean. There are a lot of interesting things to see and a lot of history to explore there, but no way I'd take my family and I'm getting a little to old to be lugging 100 lbs of personal protection around.

Hopefully one day soon people will learn that they are being used by the ones in power for their own personal agenda and their hatred directed outward instead of at the people who keep them in chains. Been my experience that average Joe in any given country just wants to be left alone to the pursuit of happiness.

Of course, I never thought I'd see the day that US Vets returned to Vietnam as tourist. Maybe there is hope.

Afternoon Rob:
Shall we say: "It is enough reward" to have someone read and respond to a comment.
Looking back I guess I have been many places - Tloml is the inspiration for most of it. If I won't go she will fly off by herself if she can't find another companion.
We were in a small souvenir shop in Amsterdam where they sold cloth emblems for most countries and picked out all the flags of countries one or the other had visited beyond a lay over in an airport. When we brought the little pile of emblems to the fellow behind the register he said: "You can't possibly have spent much time in all those places."
The idea was to sew them all over our pack sacks but I think the emblems are still in a paper bag somewhere.
There is still most of the world that neither of us have visited. I would like to "close the circle" some day - that is at least visit the Middle East and India so I could say I had been around the world. Wish those places would get their act together.

#1000 - You ought to get a prize or something. Unfortunately, RTLSNK is in charge of awards and there is no telling what time he might be along.

That's Mexico, correct? You sure do get around!

Good morning Rob:
We have lots of Newts and Salamanders here but they rarely come in the house. I guess the ambient moisture level is too low. Even pet Iguanas don't last long.
"I spent a long time watching" geckos hunting near the porch lights in Zihuatanejo.

Hey Todd!

Current temp 79 F. Sunny day outside. Got up this morning and put on jeans and a sweatshirt. Just walked over to my parents house and regretted it. Nice and cool inside though without running the AC.

ps...

Sorry, no fish pics...and no high fives.
Shep doesn't "do" high fives.
:)))

It was just another week in Paradise.

Well, that's all you really need.

Geckos and lizards and such all over the place here. A couple hang out at my desk, prolly due to the flourescent that stays on 24/7 that's hooked up to the computer UPS so I can find my way around if the power goes out. There is a frilly little palm on the desk for them to hide in and get an occasional drink from.

"Of course I suppose the good part of that deal is on Fridays when you are ready to come home, it will all be downhill..."

Downhill or downstream, either way is a good thing.
:)

Picked up a hitch hiker from the cabin in the Keys.
It's an itty bitty gecko. Stowed away in my tackle locker.

Cute little puppy. Turned him loose in the crib. He immediately headed for the "mountain top"...err...the peak of the ceiling. Life is good. :)

Pottery,
have fun and good luck.
Too early to be contemplating climbing mountains on a Monday for me.

Of course I suppose the good part of that deal is on Fridays when you are ready to come home, it will all be downhill...

lout 1 (lout). n. An awkward and stupid person; an oaf

Who you calling a lout?
pulls covers over head, rolls over, goes back to sleep.

Over 120 pan drums is a lot of drums!
I wonder how long it takes for them to come in and
set up the band to get ready to play? There are a
bunch of them that each have four or five 55 gal drums.
Would need a good sized van to carry that load!

Indeed..
120 players, not 120 drums. Maybe 450 drums.
Pans are mostly on "racks" with wheels, transported on flat-bed trucks to the venue, then we all get to push them into position. Dont get yer toes under the 8" wheel !

Some basses are 10 pans. The players need to be real fit to play that spread.

Music was fantastic last night.
I'm off to the mountains to have a site meeting with my new Employer.
See you there.....

And Good Morning! Its Monday, time to get up and get going, we have places to go, and things to do, and people to see. This is no time to be sleeping in and laying about like a lout. There are lists to be done and things to build and stuff and whatnot to be accomplished.

I think I will have coffee first though.

One shouldn't rush out into the world unprepared. :)

By the way, here is the thought for the day.

Did you know that "stressed" spelled backwards is:

"desserts". LOL

Therefore, if you find yourself stressed,

have some dessert! It will reverse that condition!

Thus sayeth the sooth sayer, Dr. Snake.

No charge. :)

And, goodnight.
Member Since: December 31, 1969 Posts: Comments:
Oh, sorry, I guess I shouldn't mention dessert then. :)

Okay RTL, you can stop now!
Angie is sitting under a tree reading her Sunday paper and I don't think she's given a thought to supper.

Oh, well...there is always rum...

Has been a quiet day around here today, tried not to
get in any more trouble. :)

SugarBear is out in the veggie garden picking Romaine
Lettuce for our salads with dinner tonight. Fresh is
so much better than store bought.

Crock Pot Pot Roast with carrots and onions and red potatoes. YUM

LOL, I am listening to the Radio....

But we are leaving home now.
Missed being there for some fantastic performances by the Med. Bands.
Gets better every year.

This might be a Late Night.......
Off we go>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Goofy,
Never thought about lack of reflection on frozen lakes. Not something I have to be concerned with much.

One more reason to stay south of the freeze zone I suppose.

Pottery.

Well sir, I suppose since your time is limited that you should schedule yourself to be there when the most charming ladies are at peak turnout.

But I'm sure you figured that out. Not sure how you got to be there when the Lady Pottery is not monitoring your activities. Careful...could be a trap!

Big orange moon going down on the horizon. Saw it for about two seconds while traveling out of town about 06:20. Looked about 4x larger. Maybe tomorrow if the sky is clear. Came up last night over frozen Lake C. Thought we would see a long reflection on the lake. Frozen, not so much.

Hellooo Pottery!
Sounds therapeutic and charming.
Would love to do that if it didn't involve commercial airlines.

Don't do anything that I wouldn't do.
(that still leaves you a lot of leeway, you know)

Understood....
I think.
I wonder....

heheheheh

Lady Pott has gone for a Siesta, and I'm listening to the Medium Bands (75 players max). Sorry I cant make the entire show, but it started at about noon and will run 'till late tonight. I can't sustain my energy for so long anymore. Large bands (120) will start about 6:00 I guess.

Hmmm...

Aching shoulders and sore throats.
May I recommend a night of Wild Behaviour on the Queens Park Savannah, prancing to the sounds of hundreds of Percussion instruments while breathing in the aromas of dust, pungent smoke of dubious legality, corn soup, shark&bake, and bodies of close proximity & various states of undress.

Well, actually, having said that, I may very well be unwell tomorrow.....

:):))

Main plan for the day is to get another coat of liquid glass on the car. Beyond that I intend to mostly chill out and enjoy the weather on the deck.

Thought I might be getting sick last night. Headache and sore throat, but apparently it was just from all the oak pollen and such in the air right now.

Not sure about the awake part.
My eyes are open and my fingers moving.

You need to stop beating yourself up, my friend.
Member Since: December 31, 1969 Posts: Comments:
Wow, can't believe it, we are both awake at the same time.

Playing hooky today, did something dumb with the shoulder last night.:(

hmmmm....Quite right, on all counts.
But I like Goofy's plan.

Sounds really good Goofy, what time was dinner again?

42 F here this morning, 80's next week???

Weather is wacko lately, does not bode well.

And there is nothing worse than a bode well you know.

Just ask Pottery, he knows. :)

Back to bed myself.

Stay away from bode wells...

They are deep, desolate, disaster.
Getting out of them is often quite difficult, as they tend to suck you in in a maelstrom of counter-clockwise spirals which resemble the mating of a herd of snakes.

I need more coffee.....

Sitting here it is 16 F out side and the snow crackles on your bear feet. Was looking for my phone I'd left in the car. Looking around found some pork bones about 5 lbs worth. (neck or shoulder?). Plan on searing ' em in hot oil, sauté some celery, carrots and onion, a little red wine, and toss it all in a pot of pomodoro tomatoes and garlic and slow cook for about six hours till the meat falls oof the bones. Add some fresh chopped basil. Some garlic smashed potatoes, some turnip and parsnip a little salad and some left over pasta and garlic bread. Maybe a glass of red vino. Well there you have it. Irish pork bone stew. Going back to bed.

Had the grands for the afternoon and evening and they
have now gone home so we can now relax a little and
will sleep good tonight! The little Princess is now 6
and the little Hulk is 4. Wish we had just a fraction
of their energy. :)

This is the third time the Hulk has beaten me at the
Go Fish card game. I think he cheats. :)
