Welcome to The Ark

Welcome!

Things that make you go Ooops!

Your favorite mistake.

Things you always knew to be true that turned out to be not so much.

Surprising realizations.

Funny historical stuff.

Stuff that scared you senseless but was funny afterwards.

Things learned the hard way.

You can see the impending train wreck pretty clearly on the GOES image above. Someone on the news this morning described the pattern as "an atmospheric traffic jam". Thought that was a pretty good description.

Thanks for the live updates Ski.

Went to see my parents off.
They went to Manasota Key for Issac.
They an now on the way to St. Augustine for Sandy.

I made a mental note never to schedule a vacation with them.

Then took some smoked turkey to my grandmother.
She's a happy camper.

Shep, sounds like a good plan.
Maybe one day I can get away from here long enough for a cruise like that.

The kind of cruise most folks take, a week on a floating hotel crammed to the gunnels with tourist covered in oil, has never appealed to me.

Saving east coast Inter-coastal from Sebastian down through Stuart for spring.

Hopefully back in the Keys late summer.

Snake tiptoes around the Ark, it is 454 after all,
wouldn't want to wake the Captain and his Lady.

See Pottery is back from the party in Tobago.
Ski is rocking and rolling in the water.
Rob has an intermittent dripping problem.
Serves you right for threatning to rat me out. :)

Snake slips quietly back out again.br>Can't believe Pottery let that line go by. :)

Neither can I.
A slight lapse in consternation. Or something.

Bright and hot here already.
Last day of Visitors, so The List is long.....

Mornin Arkers,

Well we made it through the night no worries. Is's still blowing around nnw at 25 gusting. Not much rain cause skiff is relitively empty. Deck is full of leaves and such. Just having java and about to read some news to see what the wind has done overnight.

How is it at your place Rob?

PS. Thanks for the tune

Good Morning!

Well, Sandy looks totally different this morning.
Local report same as last night, wind up slightly.

No, Snake. Intermittent dripping is not a problem.
Persistent deluge would be.

Awaiting Ski's report from the Keys.
Off for a bit to check on news from the Bahamas and study the structure a bit.

Good evening.

Back from a day of Birthday lunches, 2 art shows, and a couple of beers with friends while the traffic calmed down.

Sandy looks to be bombarding the Bahamas with 100 mph winds and all the trimmings right now. Bad stuff there.

Oh, for those who want a weather update:

68 degrees F
Wind N 10 mph
gusting to 45 degrees on the spanish moss scale.
Intermittent dripping.

No biggy.

Hi Arkers!

Yes, it is I, whoever I am and whatnot.

Should really get SugarBear to take a photo of the leg.

Really cool colors everywhere, purples, blues, blacks, and reds.

Sort of looks like Yakuza Tats from Japan.

SugarBear is at the kids house having dinner so I
snuck out here for 30 minutes. heh heh heh

I'll hear the garage door open and be back in bed like a good boy before she can catch me!

Better go check on the radar. You all stay safe down there!

I can't go to boat shows.
I just get in the way of people who can actually afford one.

I'm going to guess the fishing may have been pretty good a day or two ago down at your end prior to what's over you now.

Just helped to deliver a 36 luhrs down to Marathon on sat Went out to about 600ft and trolled the whole way, beautiful ride calmish all the way but we didn't get a cracker fish wise, a couple of strikes and that was it. It's about 60miles by water no birds weeds nothing dissapointing to say the least. The next day it was honking big time so at least we had a good ride.

Hi Pottery and Todd,

Just doing a check in. We had one ripper squall that came by earlier. Of course I was stuck in the truck at the supermarket no rain coat, did a runner and got soaked. Wind is picking up from NE few gusts. Pumped skiff out once already. click pop fizz slurp, just cracked a beer. Got the first crock pot cooking for the cooler season other than that no dramas and did you hear they reckon its going to be down to 55 in miami on mon and tue bloody hell better get the socks out. :)

I sure wouldn't want to be under that thing when all that cold air in the jet stream slams into it.

Just saw the high pressure system over eastern Canada with the upper wind field as a possible blocker on the Weather Chan.

No fishing up that way for a bit...and doubtful skiman is going sailing today.
:)

Hi, ski, snake, rob!

If I didn't know she was going NNE at the moment, I'd be worried for you Floridians! Heck, the heifer's taken up most of the state!

Sorry I missed you earlier. Trying to do three things at once this morning. Don't worry, It's not our first rodeo. Probably some TS conditions here to the east coast. Biggest thing is most of those areas have already had a whole lotta rain recently. Good thing I mowed the yard yesterday because if we get more rain than forecast, I won't be able to mow the back yard for a week or two.

Pottery,
I understand completely.
Just explain that I can't be there because there is a tempest in my teapot.

Hi Pottery!
Have a great day and Happy Birthday to The Ancient One.

Not a lot of rain in the forecast for us, but that could change with a slight change in track. Not to worry though, still plenty of freeboard here.

Will pass on the Greetings.
The conversation will go like this....

"My friend Hood sends his Greetings"
"Oh, do you think so? It looks sunny"
"And Happy birthday greetings, from Hood"
"well I've always had good food here"
"Thats nice. My friend Hood sent birthday greetings to you"
"How nice. Is he coming as well? I haven't seen him in ages!"
"No he can't make it today. He's in Florida"
"A shame. I hope he has a good birthday though."

:):))

Good Morning.

Yeah, keep an eye on that Tempest, Hood.
Could bring some more heavy rain along with it.
It has sucked all the clouds away from here, just getting some light showers over the past week. Perfect weather for the visiting UK folks who leave on Friday.

Heading to the City in a while to celebrate the 96th B/Day of Ancient Person. Will take her out for lunch to one of the restaurants in a marina on the N/W peninsula. Amy & Alex will attend.
It might even be a pretty good time......

I see that Snakeymon has gone back to bed.
Guess we'll see him tomorrow, then.

Hi Ylee

still blowing 105 heading north. Looks like it blew all the shear to hell and I wonder if it will ramp up some more over the shallow waters of the Bahamas.

Hi Rob

We fried some turkeys for the first time last thanksgiving they were great. We also tried to fry a pork leg, well we kept it in the oil for over an hour cause the middle showed it wasn't cooked, any who when we finally pulled it out it was coal on the outside and raw on the inside. Fun science project luckly the leg only cost us 10 bucks

Good Morning!

Yep, Snake, I'm watching!

Good to hear from you Ski! Been wondering, but figured you were out enjoying the fine weather.

Not worried about things here unless something changes. A couple extra lines in the upper keys is a good idea.

Will likely be problems with beach erosion, but more concerned with friends further up the coast, like Goofy, friends in the Norfolk area, and points north.

Will be monitoring.

BTW. Turkey was perfect!

Mornin Arkers

long time no type.

Well the storm made me come and check out wunderground so I thought I would pop in. Pretty windy here but nothing major. Bloody hell Sandy blew up over night ay. So far she is still on track to stay east but will throw a few extra lines on this morn, but not expecting any dramas as I am in the lee of any strong wind.

Had my Olds over from Oz for a week last week timing couldn't of been better cause the weather was fantastic. Got lots of stone crab claws for our first haul of the season. Dad hadn't had them before and thought he had died and gone to heaven. Well thats about it I could prolly type for awhile but it would be pretty ordinary.
