Battle of the Bugs

By: RobDaHood , 5:53 PM GMT on March 06, 2012

Welcome to The Ark

Well, there have been some interesting developments of late concerning my friend RTLSNK. (funny how many interesting developments he finds himself in the midst of). Once again he finds himself dealing with a creepy-crawly infestation. This time it's not rhino beetle giganticus, but perhaps something a bit more sinister. I'll just post the report I recently read from him:

(begin Transmission)

Todays Garden Report is brought to you by The Macon Master Gardener, Sugar Bear.

Fear not boys and girls, for we are about to talk about an invasion.

Macon has been invaded by the nafarious KUDZU BUG.

It was discovered in Athens, Georgia in 2009, and has now spread throughout Georgia, Alabama, and the "Carolinas".(yuk yuk yuk) Both of them!!!

It does eat the dreaded Kudzu Plant, however, it also eats everything else in the world. It likes to spend the winter in the walls of your home to stay warm. It is about the size of a Ladybug but a little smaller. It also flys extreemly high for a little bug so strong winds will blow them everywhere.

If you find one inside your home DO NOT STEP ON IT. It is known as a STINKBUG and has a horrible smell. Use the vacuum hose to pick them up instead.

Here is a photo of the little critter:

(End Transmission)

Further reports on this ongoing operation will be released in the comments section below as they become available.

Here is a link to the previous blog.

Good Morning, RTL!

Do me a favor,
go to this blog and solve my riddle in #9.
Don't know if you've ever seen it, but I'm sure you can figure it out!

Pottery,
After I get a few things done, I'm going to start a new blog.
Beware of "Hoovering clouds". You might get sucked into a vortex.

Morning everyone, thanks for the good wishes, actually feeling better this morning, had the first good nights sleep since Monday. Tough little head cold. SugarBear made some chicken stir fry using some red hot Thai Peanut Sauce that burned those little bad guys right out of my sinuses.

I must warn you, this technique is not recommended for the faint of heart! :)

Good Morning!
I trust that Hood & Snake are feeling 100% this morning, 'cos it's a Beautiful One!

Heading for the Mountains in a while, to bring some stuff back here from there.
There be some grey clouds Hoovering, and maybe a shower later?
'Twould be Nice!

Have a Good One, but Beware the Consequences!

Pretty bad headache, due no doubt to the combination of a weak cold front overhead and really high pollen count.

Will see you all in the morning.

Rest well.

It's a little hot....

15 minutes after I penned this Informative Message yesterday, I was directed by Lady Pott to the sound of Fire on the Northern Front.
Spent 3 hours out there making sure it did not jump the fire trace.

We cut the trace in Feb-Mar, and due to the rains we had, some of it has grown back, and we were Very Slack about maintaining it....
Shameful, and it's a good thing I was home!

But 3 hours in the heat of Sun&Fire nearly did me in.....

Could be the pollen is responsible for the whole mess.
I've had headaches for 10 days now.

Good Morning, yes, I do realize that it is 0943 hrs, just woke up, got hit by some kind of bad sore throat head cold thingy yesterday around 1100 hrs. Knocked me down like an oak tree. Fought it all day and all night yesterday using full strength Listerene to gargle with a dozen times. Awfull stuff but the sore throat is gonzo this morning. Did it years ago and it worked just as good then. Amazing stuff. Will take it easy today and get back to the yard work tomorrow.

Good Morning!
About 57 and dampish here this morning.
Humidity will drop to around 30 or so this afternoon, unless we actually get that 20% rain that is in the forecast, which would make it steamy. Especially so since the wind is supposed to go away.

Pollen numbers are down to 9.9, not that I can tell any difference.

You're working this deal all backwards Pottery.
Upon hearing about the ultimatum, you should have consoled your friend, then call his wife up and ask what she'd pay you to haul off all that junk lumber in her garage. Of course, being a friend, you would have done it just for fuel cost...

RTL,
I heard they were setting up nets in which to snare you on another blog. Might need your bayonet.

Actually, truth is, his Wife has given him an Ultimatum "either that cedar goes from my garage, or I go..."
So I get the cedar. He keeps his wife. Have to pay for it of course. the Cedar, I mean.......

Same here! Some time back we bought one of those new-fangled bathroom scales with the digital readouts and stuff.

I got on it this morning and it said "Please have the extra person get off the scale, we can only compute one person's weight at a time". :)

53*F here in Macon this morning!

Today I will spread the last 16 bags of Brown Mulch into the 2 shade gardens and that pallet of mulch is history!

I heard a rumor that we need one more pallet of Brown Mulch for the rest of the landscape areas but I am trying not to think about that right now.

Pottery~ Put a few drops of castor oil in your eye & cover with an eye patch. Go to sleep for preferably atleast 6 hrs. When you get up, gently wash the eye with calendula tea or saline in case the castor oil drew out anything stuck in the eye. With scrapes & such there can still be a bit of pus.. Castor oil can be used again if it's still bothersome. Most times one treatment does the trick, though you may want to use that eye patch a few days if it's bothersome without or is finding favor with the ladies.

Rob~ Hope you got rain. Just a few drops were left of it once it got here.

Eye Report...

All is well,, fortunately. A very slight soreness is all.....
Thanks for the Good Advice.
Will keep it for future reference.

Good morning Rob,and all the friends that come by here.

It is going to be a little cooler this weekend than we've been having, temps barely out of the upper 70's lower 80's when we've been having temps in upper 80's lower 90's...
Guess that "cool" front moved on thru.
