Isaac Response

By: Portlight , 7:31 PM GMT on August 25, 2012

Tropical Storm Isaac is now forecast to intensify to a CAT 2 hurricane and effect the Florida panhandle sometime Tuesday and Portlight is ready to respond.

John Wilbanks, a long time Portlight member and instrumental in many of the things we do will be heading to Panama City tomorrow afternoon along with a team from Yankee 1, a relief organization made up of retired miltary to provide relief services and SAR if that becomes necessary. John's website,, will be streaming video of operations in the strike zone; you can see what Portlight's teams are doing here.

We are also reaching out to the disability community in Haiti and rekindling old relationshps there in the aftermath of Isaac's passage of that island. With over 300,000 still displaced after the earthquake of two years ago, the need there will be great.

People are suffering as a result of Isaac, and more are certain to be affected, and with your help we're going to help them.

As always, your support is critical. It's difficult to imagine disaster before the fact. But we are encouraging you to try. Please help as you can. Unserved, under served and forgotten people are counting on you. Seriously. With your help, we are able to serve those who fall through the cracks.

Financial contributions can be made using the PayPal button above or by check made payable to: Portlight Strategies, inc. 60 Fenwick Hall Allee #721 Johns Island SC 29455

Since it's going west of us, let the guys know I still have that 7 BR 4 BA house on the beach empty in Panama City, if you need to evacuate any disabled people out of NOLA or wherever, they can crash there. I have access to nursing etc., as a former medical foster care provider. Have wheelchairs, nebulizer equipment, one hospital bed, etc. One of the guys has my number if you need the house it's there for you. Be safe.

So proud of y'all for keeping this up over the years. Went on Master's blog yesterday, after having a couple year break of not having to anxiously check WU every 5 minutes & asked where stormjunkie was... So happy that all the efforts we all put forth after Katrina in taking supplies & donating monies has led in your continued generosities. Keep up the good work & y'all be safe!

Someone get a message to either Presslord or to StormJunkie, about looking into co-ordinating response efforts with a group called the First Response Team of America, I would greatly appreciate it.
