Long time, no blog

I can't believe I've got nearly 9 years out of the La Crosse WS2308 - and counting! The data on my page is still sourced from the original La Crosse sensors and central display unit. Changes are in development, as it won't last forever and I've squirted a worrying amount of WD40 onto the wind speed sensor propellor over the years.

The new hardware platform is Raspberry Pi, Arduino and Xbee (ZigBee) based. New sensors are in test mode on the workbench and python is overtaking php as the house development language. A Raspberry Pi camera module snaps photos that are uploaded to my page each minute. Pointing this directly into the sun gives lens flare that JJ Abrams would be proud of but isn't really a design feature of a useful weather oriented webcam for the long term.

So, on with the development and I'll try harder to blog this a bit more frequently ...
