Happy Easter!!!!

By: NEwxguy , 1:31 PM GMT on March 18, 2013

Mar. 29th
Happy Easter to everyone who celebrates the holiday, and to our Jewish Friends Happy Passover currently going on until April 2nd.
Should be a very nice holiday weekend, with Easter Sunday possibly reaching 60 degrees before clouds move in during the afternoon and possible showers later in the evening into the nighttime hours.
Cold front moves through during Monday, which may bring a few more showers, then turning cool again like we have been for over a month.

Mar. 28th
So were almost finished with March.Even though we've been in a cool stretch,we really have averaged around normal. It hasn't been terribly cold and no real cold mornings.
Precipitation has below normal for March.Other than a brief warmup on Sunday(maybe 60?)its going to remain on the cool side of things. We still have the systems in Canada swirling around and bring down cool Canadian air.

Mar. 27th
Chilly morning, down to 25,but sun already warming quickly.Clouds expected to move in later today and may see a little light snow tonight.Should be only a dusting to maybe half an inch.
Puppy is is doing fantastic. She is going outside each time we take her out, haven't had any accidents, although close calls.Certainly not housebroken yet, given the chance there would be accidents, but is good that she goes quickly outside.
She sleeps through the night which is awesome, but it is a challenge to try to get ready for work in the morning.I have some pictures, just need to transfer them and will post them when I get a chance.

Mar.26th
Storm passed out to sea harmlessly with only minor precip along the southern coast and cape cod.
The blocking pattern continues,so unsettled cool weather continues into the weekend, with only slight warming. The cold extends all the way down to the gulf coast where some areas have frost and freeze warnings up for the next couple of weeks.

Mar. 25th

I guess I'll keep this blog going, since it started off with the new pup story and since she is arriving this afternoon, may as well keep it going.
At least the weather is cooperating for her trip, with no weather problems leaving Tennessee and then to Atlanta and finally to Boston.
Weatherwise no big warmups on the way,but the temps will be creeping up,just for the reason the sun is getting warmer.

March 24th
Bright sun this morning, promises to be a nice day today, once the winds die down this afternoon,it will feel nice.Hey,might even see a 50 degree reading.May just be wishful thinking.

March 23rd

So it will be dry and calm weekend, but it continues below normal temps. And today will have gusty winds, so it will feel cooler, with lots of clouds.Tomorrow should be the better of the days. Our coastal storm still looks to move out south of us,but it will be close,in fact Conn.,RI, and SE Mass, may see a small accumulation.Something to watch as any jog more north would create problems.

March 22nd,
So a little sneek snowstorm hit SE Mass, and especially Cape Cod,where some areas received around 9 or 10 inches, but that has moved out to sea.
Looks to be a dry weekend, with slightly below normal temps, and hopefully the next storm will move out south of us on Monday.Models indicate right now it will pass out south, but it will be close so have to watch this carefully any little jog north would send some precip into southern new england.

March 21st,
So our blocking pattern is expected to stay put right into April. So my advice for people in the East and Northeast, don't take out the tshirts yet.
We see this from time to time,a negative NAO and it takes a few months for this to break down, and sometimes it breaksdown and then builds back in.So we'll just have to wait and see what happens, almost impossible to forecast when this negative NAO will weaken. In the meantime we have to watch two more situations. One will be later today and this evening. We have a large system passing well south of us,but trough will be moving off the coast and join with this system and form what they call a Norlun trough mainly over southeastern portions, but even along the easter coast we may see some snow.over the SE may see 2-4 depending on how strong the instability gets and a coating to an inche around the boston area, but this is extremely hard to predict. Then another system will be moving off the east coast, and should stay south of us,but it will be close so something to watch.

March 20th,
Those who are tired of this winter weather, better get used to it for a while. No signs of the blocking pattern breaking down. This will probably last through the rest of March and early April. These patterns sometimes are very slow to break down.Lets hope it breaks down early April or we could be in for a very cool wet spring.
Puppy news, she is scheduled to fly in Monday afternoon.I'll be watching a coastal storm closely around that time frame, but right now leaning toward it going out to sea.

March 19th,
So they say spring begins tomorrow, sure, what ever!!!!Another 10 inches of snow,a very heavy wet snow.Currently mixing between snow, sleet and rain.
Forecast below normal temps right to the end of the month with storm threats continuing.I have a feeling my tulips are not planning on poking through the ground any time soon.

March 18th,
Hope everyone had a Happy and safe St. Patrick's Day.Our winter continues to hold its grip, eventhough spring begins on Wednesday. We have another Major snowstorm headed into our area with snow beginning tonight. and continuing through at least tomorrow morning and depending on the track, may transistion to sleet and freezing rain and rain. When this change over occurs will determine how much snow we get.It looks like the farther west toward Worcester west will see more than a foot of snow.Right now my area is under a winter weather warning for 4-8,but if the changeover is slower, may see up to 10 inches.
I am so tired of snow at this point. And no sign of any spring weather in the forecast.

And soon to be our new member of our house.Sadie is her current name, but we will be changing to our own selection once she arrives.

I think of the garden after the rain;
And hope to my heart comes singing,
At morn the cherry-blooms will be white,
And the Easter bells be ringing!

There is hope that we are going to get out of this pattern by the end of next week.We can only hope.

A BIT OF PROGRESSION TO THE FLOW PATTERN ALOFT IS ANTICIPATED IN
THE CENTRAL AND EASTERN PACIFIC FROM DAY 6-7 AND ONWARD. A SUBTLE
SHIFT IN THE STRUCTURE OF THE POLAR VORTEX...AND A TREND TO MORE
OF A POSITIVE NAO INDEX IN THE NORTH ATLANTIC AND GREENLAND WILL
ALLOW THE BROAD VORTEX IN EASTERN CANADA TO GRADUALLY LIFT OUT
(AROUND DAY 7)

Skye, the problem is she knows she's got the upper hand, but Im a firm believer that for a good well behaved dog you have to be in control, but with this little one,its going to be a battle.

NEw, you may not believe this, but we just had a slight HAILSTORM! Little white beads just bounced off our roof and yard. It now appears to have passed (hopefully) and the sun's once again trying to fight its way out from behind the clouds. Come on sun!!!

On a humorous note, this storm also coincides with my hubby just having taken our large gas grill out from the garage into the backyard. Thankfully it's covered, but I told him that before he attempts to grill this season, he may want to keep a suit of armor on standby ... just in case! LOL!

It also gives new meaning to the phrase, "All Hail the Conquering Hero!" LOL!

Hi,Mass,I do love that picture.I have a bunch of pics of Belle ,that I just have to find the time to transfer over and then post them. With this little girl in our house, not a lot of free time, she is something.I remember Prince and he had a lot of energy, but Belle is so much more energetic, demanding. So stubborn, when I try to divert her attention or scold her for something, she just backs up and gives me a couple quick barks. We've got our hands full with this one.
I hope you have a wonderful Easter weekend, the weather looks warmer and most of the rain should hold off until after dark.

Good Afternoon, NEw!

After a cloudy start, the sun has finally made a sudden appearance around here! Hope it remains as it would definitely make for a much more pleasant Good Friday! Haven't checked the forecast today for any potential weekend precipitation, but hope that, if so, it'll remain as strictly rainfall!!!

Yesterday, I had a busy day of finalizing our IRS tax material and doing other errands. What a blessed relief to get it all done and find that, once again, we don't owe them any money!

Hard to believe that we're already at the end of March and Easter's just two days away! Thought you'd get a kick out of the Easter graphic and message containing your adorable new puppy, Belle. Hope the weather will cooperate over the weekend so the two of you can get in some more enjoyable backyard frolick time. Wouldn't ya know ... Monday's April Fools Day supposedly brings 62F degrees with some slight rainfall? I hope we don't end up being punked by this allegedly delightful forecast! Don't mind some rainfall as long as our temps keep rising upward and onward!

Weather started out nice this morning with lots of sunshine, but clouds moved in mid-morn and now its back to cool and cloudy.Won't be surprised if we see some light showers scattered around this afternoon. The good news is a nice weekend ahead.

After just looking at the long range and still no indication that our cool unsettled pattern shows any signs of breaking down,is very depressing.I would just like to see a few of those warm sunny days to let us know it won't be long until our summer is here. All those with Red Sox tickets for the early April games better be prepared for some chilly games.

Hi,Looking,
she is so much like a toddler. When we had Prince as a pup,he was active and wanted play a lot,but Belle has so much energy. She gets herself so wound up,she doesn't know what to do next.In her quieter moments she is so lovable, and I got my first greeting yesterday when I came home from work, she came running to me with her tail wagging and jumping on my leg to pick her up and then the kisses.Just what I needed and what I've been missing since Prince died.At some point she will calm down, but for the next few months she will be a baby into every thing.
I think you can post links in peoples blogs,I don't think they allow it on the main blog. That sounds like a great site to visit, looking forward to see it,or you can just email it through the WU mail.

Belle sounds just like a human baby/toddler: wild activity and then sudden collapse. Exploring and testing everything and then Boom! down for a long nap and you can't budge her. she does like like a lovable girl (even with the occasional laying-on of teeth and excited bark), and I hope her vet visit goes really well. Wonderful that she is sleeping through the night; one of my kids didn't get there until she was about five years old!

NEw, on a totally different matter: my personal website has just gone live (as of yesterday). On it are travel journals and images from all over the world, as well as two blogs. Is it appropriate to mention its URL on this blog? I don't exactly know what the rules or customs might be. If you get a chance, please let me know. Many thanks.

brief lt showers before dawn, but only a trace.Should be cloudy and cool, with more sc showers later today.
Really looking forward to the warm temps on Sunday.
Day 3 with Belle,is going well, she has really taken over the house.
Training has started, teaching her the word stop when she is chewing on things she shouldn't,wires, furniture, hands and feet.
She is so active, and then during the evening she basically collapsed, and we couldn't her active again before bedtime. We actually started to get worried, but then at 11 pm,suddenly wide awake and we're ready for bed,but again she slept through the night, which is great.
She has her first visit to the vets today.Hopefully all is well, based on activity level this morning, don't think they'll find anything wrong.

Hi,mass.
Its been a crazy day today, but most of my days are crazy.
As far as Belle goes, its only been two days, but Im very impressed with her.She seems to be very smart, its obvious the breeder has been taking her out.The tough part is she is very demanding and very stubborn, when she sets her sights on chewing something or doing something she is not suppose to she will fight me,even bark at me if I push her a way.
Some warmer weather ahead, but not going to last.50's this weekend, but colder weather moving back in next week.

Good Afternoon, NEw!

Glad that, thus far, little Belle is sleeping through the night without incident or mishaps. Sounds like she's intuitively learning that early am is the time to rise 'n shine, do her thing outdoors and get in a little play time before her master leaves for work. Things should settle down even more once she's down with the set time table and continual training. Can't wait to see your uploaded pics of her while frolicking or setting a pose.

Despite our current temps having risen to the 52F degree challenge today, our sun seems to be more hampered, making it feel slightly chillier than yesterday. At least, our (front and back) yards are now completely free from all traces of snow, but reveal plenty of broken tree remnants, etc. left behind to pick up when warmer, better weather finally arrives. Don' want hubby to jump the gun (due to boredome and cabin fever) and end up catching a head cold or worse after last summer's bout with pneumonia and an on-going respiratory condition related to his strokes.

Hope your Wednesday (Hump Day) at work is a decent one and Belle helps to ease those work day tensions with her cute distractions!

GM,Alley,She sleeps through the night, and doesn't wake until I get up for work, which is great, but it is a challenge trying to get ready for work and keeping her amused and out of trouble.
She is doing great outside, won't say she's housebroken she does her thing each time we take her out and no accidents in the house. We just have to make sure we don't forget to take her out often.
It was very chilly this morning,25 degrees, but the March sun should warm it up quickly.
Have a great day.

Good morning NEW. I am sure you are up and about early with your little one. They sure know how to train their masters...LOL. My crew are fed outside so with full tummies they will then go and snooze for most of the morning, then do their patrol in the yard among the trees with occasional visits to the food dish.

Have a great day dear one. A little cooler start to the day today but it will rise as the day progresses. We have not reached 50 yet but that sounds great. Soon as we have been close to that temp.

Hi,Mass,I was just looking at the long range forecast and your right, enjoy the brief small warmup, not going to last.Hopefully enough warmth to melt the remaining snow.
Won't be walking belle anytime soon. They don't walk too well at this age,but would like to get her out in the yard and maybe expend some of the enormous energy she has.My cat Tyler will let her into his world at his time, and right now he's not feeling in the welcoming mood.

Hi NEw!

It's almost disbelieving how warm our livingroom (74F degrees) and closed up Florida room (71F degrees) have become from just rays of sun streaming through all our window-panes alone! We were actually able to open up the door between our kitchen and porch to allow 71F degree temps to flow from our usually chilly unheated porch (during the winter-time) into our kitchen area! Hubby couldn't resist having his lunch out there and then a nice short nap on his comfortably cushioned reclining summer lounger!

All this really puts us all in the mood for those enjoyably lazy summer days in the months ahead but, by the look of next week's forecast, we will be in for a long wait as temps of low forties are returning once again ! Wish this was just an April Fools joke but, for now, it appears not. How mean! LOL!

Well, for now, we're going to make the most of any/all sun and warmth throughout this Easter Sunday! It should also make your evening walks with Belle more enjoyable, too! Again, hope Belle settles in soon, finally comes to good terms with Tyler the cat and quickly adheres to all your training!

So happy your little one has arrived safely and is starting to settle down in your home. Everything is new to her so she will be excited to check out everyone and every thing in the home. Give her a week to start to really settle in and you will find she will quiet down considerably.

Good luck with her training. Have a wonderful week with your little girl.

I think it is so crucial for dogs to be trained,in the long run it may prevent serious accidents.

So happy to hear that Miss Belle arrived safely and even slept through the night! Love how Tyler there is establishing the territorial boundaries right away. You and Belle will be learning all about each other, and I'm glad but not at all surprised that her training will start right away. i always feel bad for dogs whose people have not trained them well--and then the poor dog gets in trouble because s/he has never learned any better. Can't wait for pictures! if she's as adorable as the ones you posted before, she is definitely a charmer.

Thanks,Rob,I work hard to train the dogs I get,had a sheltie which passed away last August and was the most well behaved dog,I've ever had. So to really enjoy a dog,its crucial to train the pup from the very beginning.I'm letting her adjust to the new surroundings for a couple of days, but training starts very shortly, although I think I have my hands full with this little girl.

I have to laugh at that cat picture. Our cat Tyler if looks could kill, was just staring at the pup,my wife said the puppy got to close and Tyler gave him a little swat,so cats establishing the boundaries right from the start.

Hi,mass, yes, she left all night without a problem, but the minute I was up for work, she wanted out.Let me tell you,it is quite a challenge trying to get ready for work with a 4 lb puppy under foot.At times had to put her in her playpen to keep her out of trouble.it was a challenge trying to get my shoes tied, she kept untying them.
We've forgotten how much energy a little dog can have.
As time goes on and our training takes effect, things should get easier, although this one has a stubborn streak in her,and not sure whether its the humans or dog that is going to go through the training.
We decided on the name Belle.

Quoting NEwxguy:
Our puppy got in yesterday, and she is as cute as the picture.Actually got in early, got into Atlanta early and they put her on an early flight. So we get a call around 1:30 that they have our dog.So we had to rush into the airport early.
She is beautiful, but so much energy,my quiet mornings and evenings are over for the next few months. She wants attention and we have to watch her closely. Our cat is not happy and we have to make sure the puppy doesn't get too close for now. We have a lot of training ahead of us.Will try to get some pictures on at some point.

Good Morning, NEw!

So glad that your puppy's earlier than anticipated arrival didn't wreck to much havoc with rearranging your original plans to pick her up. Did she settle in alright for her first night in the new home or did she bark and whimper all night? I still remember, some forty odd years ago, when we first brought our 8 mos dog home from the Boston animal rescue league, how I had to sleep next to it on the kitchen floor due to its constant yelping. It took the poor thing a few days/nights before he settled down to where we both could finally catch up on some much needed ZZZZZ's in our own designated quarters. LOL! Hope you have better luck with that issue than I did!

I'm sure, in time, your cat will either adapt or help to train your new dog what boundaries to keep between the two. Hopefully, there'll be no unexpected curfluffles or skirmishes along the way or in your absence during work hours.

TYLER THE CAT: I HAVE TO CONTEND WITH WHAT NOW??? LOL!

WBZ's updated forecast, posted a day or two ago earlier and now below, is looking better and better with each passing day! To think, we could see partly sunshine and near mid-fifty weather on Easter Sunday!! WHOO-HOOO!

Good morning NEW. Just having a bit of a break before I finish up my morning chores. Have a docs appointment this afternoon to renew my meds and get the results of my blood work I had done Friday. Oh Joy!!

Looks like it will be an interesting week ahead as far as weather is concerned. I was hoping for a nice warm up for Easter but.....I don't think April will start with much of an increase in temps. Oh well, as long as there is no more snow and the temps remain well above the freezing mark, I will be happy.

Have a great day dear one. Hope your "baby" has a good trip and arrives happy.

GM,Mass, yes we got an email from the breeder that Sadie was brought to the airport and departures are on schedule, she should be in the air now heading to Atlanta.Going to be a long and stressful day for the pup. Looking forward to getting her home so she can start to calm down and start the slow process of adjusting to her new life.
Thankfully it looks like we will miss out on this storm. And I did see the 50's predicted for the end of the week, barely over 50,but Im cerainly not going to nitpick at this juncture. The long ranged doesn't look like any big changes heading into April, but just from sun angle we will be seeing increases in temps.I predict that by around the second week in April we start to get those occasional warm days.

Good Morning, NEw!

I suppose you're very busy at work this am, in anticipation of getting out early to pick up your newly adopted puppy at the airport this afternoon. Again, hope all goes extremely well and that you and the Mrs. will be enjoying her company and explorations later this evening!

I thought my eyes were deceiving me earlier when I looked at our local Boston TV's updated weather forecast!!! Hope some of those 50ish highs (Weds. - Sun.) make it our way and that any precipitation remains as only sprinkles!!! Sadie might not have to encounter any remaining snowfall on the ground after all!

Major coastal storm still looks to just swipe the southern portions of New England and Cape Cod and the islands.
Which is good news,as our puppy is scheduled to leave Tennessee 8 am tomorrow morning and fly to atlanta and arrive in Boston at 3:15.So weather should be by Atlanta by tomorrow morning and no problems here in Boston.

Holding our breath!!!

MONDAY INTO EARLY TUESDAY...

THE MAIN CONCERN CONTINUES TO REVOLVE THE TRACK OF A MID ATLANTIC
STORM AND IF IT GETS FAR ENOUGH NORTH TO AFFECT OUR REGION. A LOT
OF THIS WILL DEPEND UPON THE CLOSED UPPER LEVEL LOW ACROSS THE
CANADIAN MARITIMES. IF IT HANGS TOUGH...IT WOULD RESULT IN ENOUGH
CONFLUENCE TO SUPPRESS THE STORM TO THE SOUTH. HOWEVER...IF IT
LIFTS ENOUGH FAR ENOUGH NORTHEAST IT WOULD ALLOW THE STORM TO TRACK
FURTHER NORTH AND AFFECT OUR REGION.

Looking long range,no breakdown of the blocking high over northeastern Canada, thus keeping a continous stream of colder below normal weather through next week and most likely into April.Temps will generally be in the low to mid 40's and lows in the 20's,with teens in colder valleys.

Hi,Mass,I'm kind of thinking, maybe we better keep this snow cover,it seems that once we get bare ground it invites another snowstorm,so if we keep snow around, maybe that will ward off impending storms.
Oh,my wife is shopping like she has a new baby on the way, which in reality we do.She's found blankets and bows and cute pink leashes and harness.I told as a guy,not sure Im going to feel to good with a dog all dressed up and bows and pink colors. For the first couple of weeks until she gets stronger, won't be taking her for walks just outside in the yard.
I've been researching online for ideas on the best way to get the cat and he new pup introduce, and all ideas indicate slowly and a little at a time.one advantage is that our cat Tyler was good friends with Prince,so is familiar with having a dog around.
Have a great weekend and enjoy the dry weather, and very slight warmup.

Good Afternoon, NEw!

Quoting NEwxguy:
March 22nd,
So a little sneek snowstorm hit SE Mass, and especially Cape Cod,where some areas received around 9 or 10 inches, but that has moved out to sea.
Looks to be a dry weekend, with slightly below normal temps, and hopefully the next storm will move out south of us on Monday.Models indicate right now it will pass out south, but it will be close so have to watch this carefully any little jog north would send some precip into southern new england.

As far as Monday's potential snows escaping us here by possibly heading out to sea ....

...........................................

as our snowblower's presently in the shop for needed repairs!

Glad you'll be able to take some time off on Monday to pick up your precious new pooch from the airport, and hope she fares very well during her trip up here! I'm sure she'll be so happy when finally placed in the hands of her new loving parents and able to sniff out her new comfy home and its surrounding area. Has the wife picked out a new warm neutral dog jacket for her to wear on those chillier than normal daily walks? She may feel a bit tentative, at first, when faced with our much colder climate and first seen snow.

Glad to see that today's sun is contnuing to help melt all this remaining snow! Will be even better when the ground becomes permanently snowless and finally turns to green again! HAVE A DECENT TGIF AND WEEKEND!!!

Ylee, your poet and don't you know it.
I do like Belle, thats near the top of the list.

Looking, yeh Dolly does have a nice ring to it and fits the Tennessee girl type of name, and so does belle and I also so Trixie, which is kind of cute.

We'll see.So the airlines says it takes close to an hour after landing to get the animals over to the cargo area.So it doesn't make sense to get there before landing time and actually get there sometime after arrival time.I feel bad for the pup,all this time in a cage. She will be so glad to see someone after this flight.

I loved Alley's reasoning on Dolly for a new name for Little Miss Sadie. Since she is a Tennessee girl. How old is she? Great that you talked with the airlines to help set your mind at ease. You both will be so glad to see her--and I bet you have some nice things waiting for her in her new home. Let us all know when she arrives safely, and post some pix when you get a chance. Good dog Prince is looking down from the big kennel up there and wagging his tail. Best wishes for a lovely weekend.

Careful,Mass,you are dating yourself,LOL!!
Anyway thanks for the ideas,so many names out there.
Its been snowing for the past hour, not accumulating much.the heavies snow should be south of us along the Cape cod canal where they have winter weather advisories up.
I plan to leave work early on Monday to pick up our little bundle.

Hi NEw!

Thought I'd check in before the workday's done, as I was caught up in hubby's attempt to fix our snowblower. Thankfully, he finally relented by calling up a good nearby friend of ours, who happens to fix blowers and lawnmowers for a living. Glad that he didn't disassemble too many parts, to gather up off the garage floor, before loading it into the car for transport. When hubby gets bored or ambitious, these days, I have to be quick on my toes. LOL!

Thankfully, it looks like the more northern parts of Mass. will escape from any accumulative snowfall tonight or on Monday. Hope that local METS are correct about Monday's system heading out to sea and escaping much of us.

Glad, too, that all is now set up for your puppy's safe transport and arrival here on Monday afternoon. We look forward to your posting more pics of her here once she's settled and in the mood.

Thought I'd leave behind a few other female canine names for your consideration:

Eve
Trixie
Fluff
Twinkie
Haley
Margie - (Remember the 50's TV show, "My Little Margie" starring Gale Storm and her side-kick played by the female actress, Zazu Pitts?) Boy, I'm certainly dating myself here and should definitely stop while I'm ahead! LOL!!!
