Another Monday

By: NEwxguy , 2:33 PM GMT on August 13, 2012

Yep,another monday, which followed a very unsettled weekend, but not a complete washout.Very humid air,and a scattered bouts of heavy downpours, the worst south of Boston and out in western Mass. and Conn. Some areas had up to 5 inches of rain and a very short time causing street flooding and some wind damage with straight line winds.nothing like going into the Mall to do some shopping and coming out an hour or two later and finding the parking lot and your car under 4-5 feet of water. A quick note to those whose car has water almost up to the windows, don't try to open the car door?????Story of a lady who did just that and was shocked to see her car fill up with water??????
So we had a nice outdoor cook out with the family and the rain stayed away.
Next a couple of dry less humid days before another system moves in Tuesday night and Wednesday with more downpours, with these types of systems you never know who is going to get flooding and who won't even see a drop.
Olympics ended last night with mishmash of old and new english pop stars.Nothing special and in fact some of the performances were horrible.I basically turned it off half way through it.
Congrats to the Olympic women who really came away with most of the US gold.

Mass so good to see you,I certainly hope you and you husband the best, such a shame stress with family members can create pressure like that.

So sad about Johnny Pesky,he really is one of the faces of the Redsox,I certainly hope they will have a proper tribute to him.
That story about the family murder and suicide is so disturbing, really is a major issue in our society. We just don't want to deal with these people who need so much help and more and more you hear stories like this.We are more interesting in controlling how big a soda drink is consumed than dealing with people are mentally ill and the violent people in our society.I shake my head a lot these days at the stories that keep appearing in the news.
Hope to see you when you have a chance and take care of yourself and your husband.

Hi NEw ~

Briefly dropping by with the sad news that the infamous Red Sox ballplayer and mascot, Johnny Pesky, has passed away today at the age of 92.
His incredible seemingly ageless vibrancy and integrity will be sorely missed at all future Fenway games. Glad the Organization, players and fans all appreciated and honored him so much while he was around and allowed him to continue living his life to the fullest till the end.

Link to Boston announcement of Johnny Pesky's passing.

Hope you and Mrs. are doing well and those renovations of yours are near or finally completed. It certainly would make a great ending to any remaining summer plans.

Will check in again when able. Things are still hoppin' around home, as my hubby did indeed suffer another but minor stroke (further affecting mostly his speech and right hand) on Tues., July 24th. We've trying to take things easier day by day and keep him as destressed as possible. A major verbal blowout with his sister-in-law and brother (concerning their lack of oversight and needed help with his aged father, etc.) contributed to a probable rise in his BP which resulted in this unfortunate outcome. Thankfully, we're no longer talking with them and just taking matters into our own hands... but it's more work for me but a relief not to deal with their ridiculous antics anymore.

I wasn't sure whether or not to mention this, but I knew the three people involved with that double murder/suicide in Salem, NH nearly two weeks ago on July 31st. It's such a tragic story but didn't involve prior domestic abuse. It had more to due with mental illness (deep depression) on the 50 yr old son's (perpatrator) part. The elderly woman (victim # 1) was 85 and in the latter stages of alzheimer's. Her first husband, the son's father, had committed suicide in their garage many years ago while rather young. Don't know how much bearing, if any, each had on his snapping like that. Nevertheless, she was a lovely gentile vibrant woman while in her prime and was especially close with my husband's parents while in better days. I just wish she, her 51 yr old daughter-in-law (victim #2) and their family dog hadn't met such a violent end. Sadly, too, they leave behind a young 20ish year old daughter to sort out all the grief and trauma resulting from this shocking tragedy. This country really needs to focus more on mental illness and how to prevent those who greatly suffer, from becoming so suicidal/homicidal that they find an easy way to obtain guns and ammo. Such a scary and horribly tragic mix!

This is such a sad story.

The wife of former U.S. Representative Lee Hamilton from Indiana died Saturday after she was run over by her own car, Bloomington, Ind., police told NBC News.
Police said 82-year-old Nancy Hamilton arrived in the parking lot of a veterinary clinic with a pet Saturday around 4:15 p.m., but her car was not shifted into park. As Hamilton walked behind the vehicle to retrieve her pet from the passenger side of the car, the car rolled backward, striking and running her over.

Former U.S. Representative Lee Hamilton from Indiana testifies during a hearing on in Washington, D.C., in 2006. His wife, Nancy, died Saturday.
Bloomington Police Capt. Joe Qualters said Hamilton was alone at the time, and he believes the incident to be entirely accidental.

My heart goes out to Lee Hamilton and his family.

Severe weather is possible Monday afternoon and evening from the lower Ohio Valley southward across the western Tennessee and lower Mississippi Valleys. The main threats will be large hail and damaging wind, with a possibility of isolated tornadoes.

So the tropical Atlantic is fairly quiet, former TD7 is moving through the eastern Atlantic and may regenerate a little before moving into Mexico. 93L battling dry air as it moves through central Atlantic, but if it does organize it won't threaten land,it will get picked up by one of the troughs moving off the east coast and move harmlessly out to sea.
Currently one trough after another is moving off the east coast,so any system that does organize and threaten the east coast will depend on the timing of the troughs, thats if it can make through all the dry air out in the central atlantic. We'll just have to wait and see.
