Much needed rain

By: NEwxguy , 1:55 PM GMT on April 23, 2012

So we finally got some much needed rain.In fact its still raining, although should end before noon.Heavy rain last night and some heavy showers through the morning, brings totals close to 2 inches in my area and some parts of new england close to 3 inches.
This is one of those spring storms which carries a little of everything with it.
1. Heavy rain
2. Strong Gale force winds along the coast.
3. Thunder
4. In WV,Penn. And upstate NY snow.
Some areas in southern new england have jumped into the 60's ,while my area is still in the 40's,but should jump up this afternoon with the warm front moving by.Looks to stay unsettled all week as this large system stalls in eastern Canada and sends energy rotating down across our area all week.
Our hockey team pulled out an overtime victory last night to send the series to the 7th and final game on Wednesday, and I won't even talk about the Redsox, after an embarrassing game on Saturday.

Hi,Mass,I rushed to put fertilizer down on my lawn on Saturday, with this rain,it will soak right in and really green things up,also had my maple trees sprayed for those winter moth caterpillars that have been chewing up my trees for that last couple of years.Have seen a few,but don't see much munching on the leaves so hopefully this will get rid of the little guys for this year.
Yes,real nail bitters for the hockey games, but at least they came through for that nerve wracking 7th game.Where all the favourites are going down, would be nice to see them escape these tough capitals.

Good Afternoon, NEw!

Quite the Nor'easter that swept through here for nearly 20 hrs! Glad that we didn't stick to our usual routine of putting our trash out curbside last night and waited until it let up this am. Last night's wind gusts certainly created some intermittent loud noises along with the sounds of thrashing rainfall. I guess the old adage holds true when wishing for a solution to a challenging problem like drought, i.e. "Be Careful What You Wish For!"

Right now, I truly feel for those living in the western portions of PA and NY! I can only imagine the types of damage they've sustained from all that heavy wet snow! Must be an unbelievable experience, especially, after such earlier summery teases!

Currently, it's only drizzling here and our temps have climbed to 61F for now. Thankfully, everything now looks so lush and green, but with much more tolerable pollen counts of 1.10 out of 12. YEAH! Last week, it was an insufferable 11.80 out of 12 and gave many eyes and noses a run for their money.

Glad that, at least, one Boston sports team, (the Bruins) is still in the running for a championship game, although Washington remains a really tough competitor to beat. Fingers crossed!

Have a decent Monday, despite the gloomier more seasonable weather today and ahead. At least, May's just around the corner and will, hopefully, bring back some of that wonderful summer-like warmth and sunshine.
