This has been a very unsettled spring, with constant changes each week.It hasn't been an exceptional wet spring except for those areas that have experienced a lot of thunderstorms, but lots of showery weather. It has run a little above normal, but only because of the lack of very low temps.Lows have been mostly in the 40's to 50's with very few 30's,but high temps have been cool, and only a few days that have actually reached 80.And the coming week will not be any different, with a backdoor cold front coming in from the maritimes to give us a drastic drop in temps this afternoon.Currently experiencing our high temps for the day in the low 70's,but front has reached the Portsmouth,NH coastline and will be drifting through the eastern sections as the morning goes on.
This has to be one of the worst springs for forecasting, I can remember in a long time.
This spring has been a neverending trough over the northeast with constant small waves and upper lows moving through which raises havoc with the forecasts. Timing is all off,Temp predictions aren't even close some days and Precip events are unpredictable.
Last night is a good example. After the backdoor cold front, predictions were that we would have a few scattered showers around with the cold moist marine air coming in off the ocean, but thunderstorms would be confined to the western areas and NY and NJ where all the warm tropical air was still in place. So around 11 pm last night I started to hear rumbles, thinking it was a truck or plane i was hearing, then I started to see the lightning, and sure enough a storm came through with heavy rains and thunder.Dropped about a half inch of rain.Storms weren't suppose to make it into the marine air.
So cold yesterday and this morning,I briefly hit 52,but most of the day was around 48.This morning I dropped to 36. This does not feel like the end of May,more like the end of March.
We get a couple of dry days, but late tomorrow more wet weather moves in,then we get a couple more days of nice weather before more unsettled weather moves in next Tuesday. This pattern is neverending and don't see any break from this pattern any time soon.
We had our one dry day yesterday and starting out nice this morning, but showers and storms will be popping up all over New England this afternoon.Wet weather will probably linger into the first part of Saturday, but Sunday and Monday look nice.

The weather pattern settles into a very unstable airmass,as cold upper low moves by us the next couple of days with clouds building up each afternoon and chances of showers and possible thunder if the instability is strong enough. All this has to overcome very dry surface air,but with the cold air above and warmer surface air, showers will bubble up.
Dry next couple of days, before another wet and cool Thu and Fri.Right now the Memorial day weekend is looking pretty good.
We haven't had too many spring days, either cool or wet or both, but every once in a while this spring we get a picture perfect day.Today will be close to perfect except for some increase in clouds as the afternoon progresses,as our next wet and cool system approaches. Here in the eastern sections precip won't set in until late tonight, then linger through Friday with showers. The heaviest rain should be in New York and western New England.Still looks like the holiday weekend is shaping up nice. Saturday a chance of a shower depending on how quickly upper system moves east.
So here it is entering the last quarter of May and we've hit 80 twice so far.May is running above normal, but that is mostly due to the fact low temps at night are not that cold, very few mornings in the 30's.So we head back into another cool damp weather stretch which we will slowly come out of this weekend, but still afternoon popup showers are possible.
As we enter the Memorial day weekend, its always time for me to reflect on our troops, the people we have lost, the people still overseas and in danger, and with the recent scandal concerning our VA hospitals, the disgust that our men and women who have sacrificed so much, are not being taken care of.

Hope you enjoyed your Mother's Day,it was a beautiful weekend with temps around 80.
Today will be the last day of warmth and dry weather.Backdoor cold front moves by early tomorrow morning, and winds switch off the cold ocean. But today some areas may reach the mid 80's.Enjoy.
So don't get too use to any particular weather, its going to be changing every couple of days.
87 degrees yesterday, now back to the 50's today after a backdoor cold front sends in some cold ocean marine air.A little warmer tomorrow, then humid weather moves back in on Thursday, followed by some heavy showers late Friday into Saturday, followed by unsettled cool weather for early next week.
Chilly morning this morning, down to 41 degrees, but warming up quickly. Not going to see a lot of sun over the next week or so,but definitely getting more humid starting tomorrow.
Don't need a jacket this morning.Humid air is starting to move into our area, and only going to get more humid as the day goes on.Not a lot of sun today, but warm and tropical,Heavy rain stays to our west for now.
One more humid day, then front passes early tomorrow morning, and at least half of Saturday should be dry. Some very heavy showers coming through tonight.

Back from vacation,now I need a vacation.
One does not go to Las Vegas for a restful vacation.
On the go all the time,to get to places it usually takes a lot of walking.
There are pools to relax, but other than that, its a lot of activity.
But it was fun and I didn't lose too much money,so I guess thats a good thing.
Weather was perfect, although it was getting hot into the 90's by the end of the week.
Back home to still cool weather, but not too bad.
Belle was happy to see us,she did well.
Still tired, though, took the red eye flight back and landed in Boston at 7:00 am sunday morning.
Still trying to recover from that and the time change
Will check in with everyone when time permits.
Back to reality
Pretty nice spring weather, but heading toward some unsettled weather by the weekend, not a washout, but a couple of chances for showers. Most of the weekend should be dry and a little above normal temps. Will be unsettled into next week also with a couple of warm fronts followed by a cold front.
Cloudy cool drizzly day today, then a warm front moves t hrough early in the morning, and Saturday looks warm and more humid with sc showers in the afternoon.Cold front moves through late Saturday night and Mother's Day looks perfect with temps in the 70's and possibly 80.Could be breezy.
