December 2013 Forecast
Issued Dec 1 2013 12:15pm

The month is starting off with the first severe blizzard in several years and this is likely not the first we will see in December.

Overall December is expected to be much colder than normal to near record cold with above normal to near record snowfall.

Dec 1-10: Severe blizzard gives way to bitter cold dropping below -30C for most of the region.

Dec 10-20: Short periods of milder weather but overall very cold. Good chance of heavy snow, winter storm

Dec 20-30: Major snowfall/blizzard just before Christmas. Snow cover by this point exceeding 100cm in many areas, risk of structural failure due to excessive snow load. Extremely cold coming into the new year, some areas dipping to -45C.
