Bad day in paradise!!

By: LittleBlueFlippers , 8:36 AM GMT on September 23, 2012

Wednesday, while taking a few things to storage, I happened upon an accident involving a car and a wheelchair scooter. The scooter was Laing on it's side and holding the right front tire off the ground. The lady seemed ok, save a cut on the hand and a bruise on the leg.

Two hours later (exactly), while enroute to storage with another load, I was rear ended. The pickup bumper hit the spare tire that my Sportage has on a gate at the rear of my car. The tire & gate pushed the hatchback into the car and believe it or not... The frame was not touched by impact.....I felt nothing!!! My first clue that something was wrong was when my rear window shattered. I had shards of glass from one end of my car to the other.

I am fine , but a bit miffed off that I have to drive a strange car that doesn't fit me on so many levels. Trying to get things to storage so I don't have to live amongst boxes while I wait for my apartment to be ready.... I turn in a SUV and get a passenger car in return!!???? Huh? They say it will be one or two weeks before I get my baby back- but then again, it will be one or two more weeks before my apartment will be ready.

I have been driving a 2002 Kia Sportage for the last ten years. Now they have me in a Chevy Malibu. I feel like I went from the perfect size car to a battle cruiser. I am used to windows all around me to sitting in a cave. From sitting upright to seeing what's around me (except when taking things to storage) to dragging my bum on the roadway.

I miss my baby!!!

There is a difference between pride and being proud. You were proud of your nephews attitude and that is not the same as having pride.

Got your mail.... Thanks. Beginning to feel more human - just.

thank you, for the good wishes. The family all got together and had a blast! Little Man MM is taking a few steps now. He has a head of curly hair, but is attached to his Mama like crazy.

Wee Little has been enjoying ballet and preschool.

CJ is now 15 and a perfect gentleman. My little sister opened a cupboard and a glass fell out at her and shattered all over the counter, in the silverware drawer and the floor to boot. CJ and I were wearing shoes, so we started sweeping up. Lil Sis was frozen in her spot, wearing only socks that were covered in glass. When we freed her from the surrounding glass, she removed her socks. CJ removed his shoes and offered them to his Auntie.

I was very impressed in my "big" little guy that I complimented my brother on how he raised the young man. My brother's only response. "Thank you, as he should have done."

My religion tells me that pride is sinful, but I cannot help but to be proud of CJ.

being as I don't use a live tree, I like to decorate the day after Thanksgiving, so I can enjoy the tree and the lights for a good 4 weeks.

I usually am more than ready to take it all down on New Year's Day.

I find that this helps me get into the spirit of the season, especially with my Nativity placed under the lower branches out front.

I have got rid of so much stuff that I have some empty stacking boxes.... Shall I send them to you - great for extra storage!

Decorating for Christmas in November - never been done here! lol
We decorate the Sunday before Christmas, but this year, with Christmas being the Tuesday I may do it the Sunday before the Sunday before... If you get my meaning! lol

Glad things are sorting out, it is about time you had some peace in your life!

I am getting closer to considering myself settled. I do have a stack of boxes and such that will need to be sorted over time...shred, recycle and such. Other than that, I have one shelf unit to obtain and a curtain to make and I will be ready to start my puzzles!

This place is highly lacking in storage, so I have decided to create my storage by hanging a curtain between two bookshelves in the living room.

Trying so hard to get "settled" before Black Friday, b/c that is the day I traditionally decorate for Christmas. No pressure!!

My sister got married earlier this year and the guy she married is a Scot. He wore a kilt to the wedding and looked really great in it! My nephew didn't go the whole hog, but wore the tartan tie and waistcoat, with trews. Coward!

How is the sorting out going on?

oh, hey, White bunnies x3 to you too!

still working away at the settling in. Got to see my nephew in the kilt he purchased earlier this year on his trip to the UK. unfortunately, his buddy came over before he was able to change out. The ribbing began!

My brother (his father) and I told him that it is a fine line to walk. wear the kilt and turn the head of the gals, or wear the kilt and get a ribbing from all the guys.

he does look quite handsome in it.

Hey, sorry I have been MIA.

Yes, Tomball, it does exist! In Oregon's Willamette Valley, not far from Woodburn, OR there is a Tulip Festival every spring. I try to make it as often as I can.

I have been moved in since the 6th, bought a new car, and been sorting through the stuff that will be ejected from the residence (to charity). Still have a long way to go before I feel like there is order here. going from a two bedroom townhouse, to a one bedroom flat is a bit overwhelming...especially for someone who really likes order.

I cannot wait for organization to reclaim it's presence in my home!!

It has been so very crazy around here! I got the apartment on Friday, and we moved everything in on Saturday. All of the boxes were placed in the livingroom and now it looks like a hoarder lives here. I cannot get the boxes unpacked fast enough!!

just tonight I found the box with the skillet, knife block, and the silverware. Whooo-Hoooo!

Last Thursday, Dad and I went car shopping and we found one I like a lot in Wilsonville. I bought it. 2006 Toyota Matrix - Red. I think I will like this little car.

So, other than that...nothing is going on here. Just trying to get settled and back into the rythem I call, My life.

Oh, and the internet connection here is really wierd! I have to hardline everything in, but I cannot get Netflix to work. when I have time, I will try to get that figured out too!

was so stressed last night, I had maybe 10 minutes of sleep before the alarm went off this morning. so, I chose to stay home.

been doing some researching and I think I may have found something that would please me and even mom.

Been looking at the Toyota Fit. It looks to have an interior cargo capacity somewhat similar to my "SUV Wanna Be", plus some unheard of perks. - still trying to decide on the color, but must be an automatic Trans.

must get the paperwork, fill it out, send it back and wait for the check. As of last Friday (9-28), I had two weeks for all of this to happen plus buy my new ride.

People don't think about what an inconvenience that they place on other people when they do stupid stuff like this to other people. Let's not even talk about the stress it adds to whatever else they have going on in their lives. - idiots!!

Well, that is good news!
I suggest you get what pleases you - you are the person who will be driving it - don't let anyone sway you one way or the other!

But moving and looking for a new vehicle all in the same week.... Poor you, don't of do it!!
Good luck!

okay, I heard from the insurance company yesterday. They gave me a better offer than what I thought I could even hope for. now for the paperwork and to get the check.

evidently, the 2002 kia sportage is what I have begun to refer to as "crash and trash" vehicle. If you crash in it, then you must trash it. It was designed to stand up to impact superbly, but not for repairs.

the main interior is a big box with all of the structure inside. To repair this, (there isn't one on the North American Continent), we must order from Korea (1 - 3 months) and then take the car to the frame, and rebuilt, re-apulster, reattach the body, re-weld, and repaint.

the insurance company sent someone else out to make sure that there wasn't something that could be done, especially with my car having 65,000 miles to the expected 130,000+ miles for a 10 year old car. but the shop, said that this would then become a safety issue.

Now, I have the excitement to look for a car while I am moving next week! Whooo-Hoooo!

Mom thinks I should get a passenger car, but I prefer the crossover class. she says I should just cut fresh from my past (she never cared for my motocross) and start fresh.

I have been trying to tell her that she has no idea of the freedom I feel I have when I can buy something and be able to haul it myself with out having to ask someone to come and help me with that...maybe carrying it inside, but not hauling it. :-)

we shall see how this progresses.

Roll on the 6th! I bet you hope this move is the last one for a while!

When is your friend, whose basement you are in, due back?

Good luck with the insurance company and their offer to you.

I thought that it was only the door and the window, but this was buckled, and that was buckled and so forth. I have a car picked out, but like you said. I hope to have enough to get it.

finally got the date of when I get the keys to the new place...The 5th!! that means that I should be able to move in on the 6th!!

I thought it was only the back pushed in and a new window!

Oh, boy... if the insurance company say totalled, it is best to go with it, and get yourself something else, as long as they give you enough to buy what you want.

Hang in there... all will be well.............. eventually!!

there's been too much going on this past two days to even think about the rental car.

the mechanic turned in the estimate that it will cost $4592.88 to repair my car. I am trying to brace myself for the insurance company declaring it totaled.

my dad is wanting to push for the repairs, but I have reservations. I don't want to get stuck with a car that is going to become more of a problem than it would have been had it not been for the accident.

We will see how it plays out, but I have no idea how long before we hear anything.

........ I cannot wait to get back to just moving!!

Oh, dear me, what a day you had!

I see what you mean about the swap... about the same happened when C had an accident in his Jaguar in the snow. The garage gave him a Fiat 500!

He is 6 foot three and weighs over 18 stone, and they give him a Fiat 500!lol

Hopefully your Sportage is repaired quickly, I suggest you tell them the hire car is affecting your back and that for medical reasons you want something else, with a better seat, or your car repaired - speedily!!!

Good Luck!!!
