What a difference a week makes...

By: Kumo , 12:34 AM GMT on August 22, 2013

Just a week ago things were really starting to fire up in the Atlantic and now nothing...

Revising my guess for activity this year.

August: One more named storm for the later part of the month. Most likely a weak CV tropical storm that takes us into September.

September: Five named storms. 5-4-1. At least one storm will make landfall on the CONUS as a Category 1 hurricane. Look for our peak in activity this season to happen a bit later than usual.

October: Three storms. 3-2-1.

I still think we will end up above normal for named systems this year, but I figure it will be less than the 16 or 17 that I originally thought would form.
