Good Morning! At Smithville, MS, the current temperature is 49 and it feels like 46. Highs will continue to range between 47 and 64 with lows between 27 and 49. There is a 90% chance of thunderstorms today and a slight chance of rain tomorrow. Heavy rainfall of 1-3 inches are expected with locally 3+ inches possible and flash flooding. In addition, some storms could be strong to severe with large hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes (a few of which could be strong) being the threats. Timing of these storms will be from 10am-2pm for Western MS, 11am-8pm for Central/Eastern MS, and from 6pm Sunday night-1am Monday morning for Southeast MS. Dr. Greg Forbes, the severe weather expert at The Weather Channel, is giving a TOR:CON (Tornado Condition Index) of a 3-4 out of the 10 for North/South MS and a 5 out of 10 for Central MS for Sunday. This means that there is a 30%-50% chance of seeing a tornado within a 50 mile radius. At the Regional Rehab Center in Tupelo, MS, the current temperature is 50 and it feels like 50. Todays high is 60 and a low of 46 with a 100% chance of thunderstorms/wind. Mondays high is 58 with a slight chance of rain.
Now, for your Winter/Severe Weather Update for the Southeast Region. There could be winter weather potential around the 16th. There could be severe weather potential possibly around February 10th-13th, around the 19th-20th, around the 21st-22nd, and around the 25th.
Hope yall are having a great Sunday and I'll have another post tomorrow morning.
