Good Morning! At Smithville, MS, the current temperature is 51 and it feels like 51. Highs will continue to range between 62 and 83 with lows between 37 and 57. There is a slight chance of isolated thunderstorms on Saturday. Few storms could be strong to severe with large hail and gusty winds. At the Regional Rehab Center in Tupelo, MS, the current temperature is 55 and it feels like 55. Todays high is 82 with a low of 56. Thursdays high is 81.
Now, for your tropical update. In the Atlantic, Tropical Storm Sandy has intensified. Winds are at 70mph with a pressure of 986mbars. Movement is North at 14mph. Tropical Storm Warning is up for Haiti. Hurricane Warning is in effect for Jamaica and Eastern Cuba. Tropical Storm Watch is up for the Bahamas and South Florida. A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for parts of the Bahamas. Sandy is expected to intensify into a hurricane later today and head Northward toward Jamaica, Eastern Cuba, and the Bahamas. Also, in the Atlantic, we have Tropical Storm Tony. Winds are at 45mph with a pressure of 1003mbars. Movement is East-Northeast at 16mph. May have some impacts on the Azores. In the Eastern Pacific, all is quiet.
This potential East Coast storm may have some of the remnants of Hurricane Sandy. There is still a lot of uncertainty about the path. Here is what yall up in the Northeast may see if this thing really ramps up: heavy rain, high winds, significant coastal flooding/beach erosion, inland flooding, storm surge, and heavy snowfall for the higher elevations.
Hope yall are having a great Wednesday and I'll have another post tomorrow morning. You can follow me on Twitter @JohnnyParker012.
