Good Morning! At Smithville, MS, the current temperature is 74 and it feels like 74. Highs will continue to range between 88 and 92 with lows between 67 and 71. There is an 50% chance of scattered thunderstorms today and storms will be in the forecast each day this week. Few storms could be strong to severe each day with large hail and damaging winds. At the Regional Rehab Center in Tupelo, MS, the current temperature is 76 and it feels like 76. Today’s high is 92 with a low of 72. Tuesdays high is 92.
Now, for your tropical update. In the Atlantic, we have Tropical Storm Ernesto. Winds are at 50mph with a pressure of 1003mbars. Movement is West at 12mph. Tropical Storm Ernesto is headed toward the Yucatan Peninsula and then over the Bay of Campeche toward Mexico. A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for the Coast of Honduras and a Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for the Grand Cayman Islands and for Coast of Mexico. A Hurricane Watch is also in effect for the Coast of Mexico. Also in the Atlantic, we have Tropical Depression Florence. Tropical Depression Florence has winds of 35mph with a pressure of 1009mbars. Movement is West at 12mph. Florence may dissipate soon. In the Eastern Pacific, a tropical wave associated with an area of low pressure located about 560 miles West-Southwest of Acapulco, Mexico is being monitored for development. Shower and thunderstorm activity has increased and the National Hurricane Center is giving this system a medium chance, 50%, of becoming a tropical cyclone during the next 48 hours as it moves West-Northwestward at 10 to 15mph.
