Happy Valentine's Day

By: JanesVacation , 2:06 PM GMT on February 06, 2014

Yes, I have had school this week...the first whole week since 2014 began. It has snowed almost everyday since early December and we are at record levels of snow. But...yesterday I took down all of the snowflake decorations in my classroom and replaced them with Valentine hearts! (Needed some better karma in there.)

The preplanned school "Winter Break" is coming up and my daughter and I are meeting in the "sunshine" next week. Can't wait!

Snow again this morning, big puffs in the air. Temperatures in the 30's keep it from accumulating too much. The puffs are about an inch across - kind of pretty if I weren't so sick of this winter.

One more week of school before spring break. We've never had this much snow on the ground during this time of year. Still a foot or more in most places. Sigh***

Oh, I bet you are fed up....your weather gizmo says you are 26 with snow mist!

I have rain here today but I would gladly send it your way, as it is also 50 degrees out there.

Take care.....spring will come...soon!

23F was the afternoon temperature today. I didn't even bothered going out the door. The evening weather man says it will be cold for the next 3 days. This winter is never going to end.....

Evenings are longer and the skies are sunny, so those are good things. My new washer and dryer arrived, so the bad weather gives me an opportunity to get all of my laundry done in the new machines. I had saved some large comforters and other bedding and they all fit beautifully into these extra large machines. It's almost like having a laundromat in my own home!

Minus 5F .... ? Brr, that is cold. Hope the school has efficient heating!

I regularly look at the cam in Ylee's blog of Mille Lac MN. It shows the ice fishermen on the lake. They have been below 0F for weeks but today they are plus 5... so things are warming up!

Your trip sounds wonderful and a much needed get-away --- get away from the weather and winter!! Although not even a close comparison to all of your snow and cold, I do understand a bit what it is like to get into sunshine somewhere else after our winters of mostly solid gray days. It is a joy and a wonder to see sunshine again and experience it after long months of cool, damp overcast. So I do have an appreciation of your trip to grass and flip-flops! And I know that spending time with your daughter was the best of all. I am realizing that blessing as kids are moving on and around.

Our 60 did not last long. In fact, we had snow flurries this weekend, which did not stick for us (did accumulate a bit north of us) and much colder air. Then yesterday we had almost an inch of cold rain - flirting with could it snow or stay rain - and now this morning it is raining hard again, but a bit warmer. We had a very dry "winter", but beginning in February the pattern started to change a bit, with more rain and storm, and now March is starting off quite wet with a wet week ahead. Spring does not seem close at all right now. Well, here's hoping that at least you warm up soon - a first step in moving beyond snow. And, stay in school! Making up snow days in late June (which is what we would do - we are out much later than you anyway) is no fun at all.

-5F and 2 feet of nanowire on hype ground this morning. School is open, so I am off. Weather forecasters say we could approach the freezing point this week. They said 5 more days.....

March 1 - yippee!! At least the calendar says we are headed for spring. Steve made it home last night before the snow began and looks like he will miss the 2-5 inches predicted tonight in Chicago.

We had a two hour delay yesterday at school due to the -7F temperature with a moderate wind. Two hour delays do not count as a school closed day - so no worries about making those up in the summer.

It was so good to be back to school yesterday after spending so much time home alone in the snow. March is "Reading Month" in schools all across the US, so many activities are planned. I'm always in charge of the book fair coming up on the 10th. Put up the posters yesterday and started passing out the flyers. The kids all love it when the book fair arrives!

Hello, I am here...under the snow and home for another snow day today. The weather is all anyone can talk about. Snow on the ground for 80 days in a row - in fact we have at least two feet on the ground right now. today the high was 8F and record lows below zero are predicted tonight with a 20MPH wind. It is certainly unusual for this part of the world.

Today was our 10th snow day off from school this year. It has never happened before, so we are not sure whether we will be making some of the days up in June, or not.

I have wonderful memories of my trip to Florida with all of the flowers and green grass. I went swimming in the outdoor pool and we enjoyed long walks through the trees hanging with Spanish moss. The ducks were feeding and we saw turtles floating in the sunshine. It was a marvelous time for us being together. I wore my shorts and flip flops everyday and we even had an evening thunderstorm making it seem more like spring! Good times.

Hope you are feeling better! Your trip to Florida, especially with your daughter, sounds wonderful! A nice time to thaw out and enjoy some sunshine. That sounds great for me and don't have the snow, which actually is not far away but didn't make it quite to us over the weekend. Cold rain instead, which chills right to the bones too. Anyway, hope the snow winds down soon for you and you can look toward spring.

What a week - 6 days in the sun with my daughter at Walt Disney World in Florida and then home to 10 inches of snow and another snow day off from school. Plus, I caught a cold.
Back to work today. Haha.

Have a good weekend, if you can:)

Hi there, I know how you will be waiting with baited breath to have a sunny time with your daughter.

Your area is getting record snow and we are getting record rain! By the time the winter is over 'they' are saying we will have endured the wettest winter for over three hundred years and that the cost to repair all the flooded homes and damaged structures will be into BILLIONS of pounds :(

Have a lovely weekend :)
