I took this photo yesterday as I was "practicing " for summer vacation! School is out on Friday, but I had a half day because of a school event that I was NOT required to attend. I came home at noon and worked in the garden and went for a long walk in the sunshine. It was great...can't wait for school to be over and start enjoying the lazy days of summer. the weather is fantastic with clear, cool nights and warm, sunny days.

Our daughter returned to Montreal. We hope to make the trip to see her in July. It was awesome to have her here for 6 weeks, but now it is time to get back to the bathroom renovation and some other projects I have in mind. Our glass shower enclosure arrives today and we have a double sink vanity sitting in our living room. There is definitely work to do!

It's raining on our SATURDAY, ugh. I waited for rain all week and when it finally started...it happened first thing on Saturday afternoon! While I am sure there are many that had more important or exciting plans than we did, it was still disappointing.

So, I will make lemons into lemonade and do some reading around the weather blogs and maybe just enjoy a good book after that. Hope the sun is shining on you today!!

Lunch today with 3 of my dear friends from my childhood. We had a great time chatting and sharing what has been happening in our lives during the last year. We have met every year since the early 1980's. It is fun to have such long time friends that know our parents and our siblings. Two of us were in each others weddings over 30 years ago and even went to kindergarten together in the early 60's.

The weather continues to be warm, humid and summery. My flowers love it and I am thankful for air conditioning! Next week is the 4th of July - such a wonderful time here at the lakeshore. Can't wait!!! The mister has the week off and our son will stop by along with a few nephews. The pool will be popular and so will the hamburgers and potato salad!

Thanks for coming by, Jane. Nice to hear from you. Thank you for the congrats for our daughter; yes, we are proud of her and she has worked very hard - no slacking with her. Now the next task is to take the NCLEX exam, in about a month, to obtain her license. Now she is working very hard to study - took a week long review class two days post-grad (didn't quite seem "fair" to have to go right back into class) and she is glad she did it.

I love zinnias and they are my flower of choice these days - especially this year when I want something fuss-free. Just last evening I planted some more seeds in pots and I have another little place in the ground that I still need to put some seeds and see what happens. It is very late to still be seeding, but, oh well, they may brighten up later summer.

Summer doesn't really come to this area till typically "July 5", is often said. Or later. However, we have had some nice days, but currently we are in a rainy spell, although thankfully it has been a warmer rain that we aren't very used to. Just a few minutes ago a quite heavy downpour went over, which is also kind of unusual. Showers are expected today, under a heavy sky this morning, and they have been off and on the last few days. I did see this morning that we may warm up into a hotter spell early next week. But it is a long way off to count on yet.

Life here is busy and still focused on the accident and all of the aftermath. It has been a hard several weeks. Just this morning Mr. PSP and his brother (the car driver) are meeting with the police for an interview. The bus is clearly at fault, but the details of "why" are still uncertain. My husband has been working very hard on everything related to all of this and the estates, etc. So much to do. His parents were very big parts of our lives - very active and busy in so many different things with so many people - and now we have missed them at several events, the biggest being the graduation. It is hard to think about how the grandparents were such big parts of our daughter's quest through school - interested and huge supporters of her, and now none of them saw her finish. Everything is just different now. There is blessing in them going together, but it does come at such a shock too. And so hard to suddenly close up the lives of people who were still so busy living life. We have managed many deaths now, mainly in my family, and now my in-laws, and had every type of ending. This is certainly the most complex and has just been all-consuming. It is going to take a long time to resolve all of the issues both practically speaking, and in our hearts.

Another hot day here in Michigan. My petunias are loving it - they look bright and happy for the first time this summer. I water them daily now that I am home more and give them a little fertilizer once a week. We have been swimming in our pool - heated it up to 84 toasty degrees. My better half thinks it is still chilly. Hehe. He's a bit of a whimp when it comes to cool temperatures.

Yeah, technology and the elderly is an interesting subject. My Mom has no interest in a cell phone or a laptop - but when Dad got the iPad last fall she has really taken to it. She is more intuitive with it than she is. Her favorite app is Skype and also CBS TV. It seems she watches a daytime rerun or two on it in the afternoons while my dad takes a nap. They have a cute little life.

I do wish my elderly aunt, who must be about the same age as your parents, would embrace technology. We tried to get her to have a mobile phone, even going to the expense of purchasing a sim card for an old phone of mine, but she used it once, when I was there, and then put it in a drawer and forgot about it... refusing to use it again!

Oh, well, some are modern 80 year old's and others are still living during the war!

Have a good week - enjoy the summer sun.

Spent time with my parents last week. They celebrated their 59th anniversary on Wednesday. They are relatively active and have a happy life together. We are all lucky to have them in our lives. They don't travel, but they keep up with their 4 children and 9 grandchildren with their iPad.

Summertime arrived today with highs in the upper 80's and higher humidity. The A/C is running along with the pool heat. We always heat the pool once and then the solar cover keeps it toasty. (Unless we have a cold summer.) Right now, the forecast is for more sunny and humid conditions in the 5 day forecast.

Second week of summer break already...where did the time go????

Made a trip over to visit my Mom and Dad last week. I'm also going again today. Now they are older they seem to need a bit more help. It's nice to be able to go while school is out. The weather has been mild for summer - so it is easy to do a lot of outdoor work. (Although rain has been abundant!)

Jane, I'm not a good sitter a rounder either, but when I have a good book it's easy for me to sit and read, and sometimes snooze.

We've had very nice summer like weather. Our last day of school is next Thursday , June 13th, then a teacher check out day on Friday .

We just heard that we are loosing our principal. 😕 I'm happy for him because he found a job closer to home and he has young children, but I'm sorry to loose him. There's always a learning curve when he get someone new.

Yes, excited to begin the summer. I asked "the mister" what I should do this summer and he replied, "Sit around the pool and relax!" I'm not really the "relaxing" kind but maybe I should learn.....?

I will definitely be stopping by the weather blogs to see how things are going in your corners of the world.
