I am a teacher and I enjoy living along Lake Michigan. It is a beautiful place that makes me feel like I am on vacation all year long!

Today is the first day of February and I am ready! The sun (yes, the sun!) is rising and the temperature is 35F. I do not believe we have been above freezing during the entire month of January, so this is already great! Maybe the snow banks will begin their decline and I will actually be able to see the pavement of our driveway again.
This day should be a relaxing one. We are working around the house and then making a pizza to enjoy during the Superbowl game this evening. We began our married life in Chicago where we certainly developed a taste for "Chicago style" pizza. One of the famouse Chicago pizza locations has opened about an hour away from us in Grand Rapids, but we can usually create a pretty close duplicate of this delicious treat. Homemade yeast crust with italian sausage, pepperoni, green pepper and fresh mushrooms, topped with mozzarella covered with a homemade tomato sauce with garlic, basil and oregano. It is all baked in a deep dish pan and topped with fresh Parmesan. It will be delicious!!!! Who cares about the game with a pizza like that???
The temperature is still below freezing and the clouds are still thick, but the pizza and the Superbowl game were both great last night!
It is Ground hog day and I heard that there will be 6 more weeks of winter. Hahaha=there will be AT LEAST 6 more weeks of winter. It is a very bright spot on the horizon and I am really looking forward to it! In the meantime there is much to be done at school!
