Sunny, breezy and much cooler today.
A cold front moved through Wisconsin yesterday developing scattered thunderstorms across the area, an isolated few of which became severe with strong winds and hail (although my backyard stayed dry all day). If you’ve been outside this morning, you’re already feeling the after-effects of the front, which include that wind direction shift to the north and much cooler, less-humid temperatures. After breaking more records yesterday with highs near 90 (and a local marathon being cancelled!), today we’re going to struggle to hit 70. We will gradually warm up again as the week progresses, with more dry weather expected through mid-week.
Today’s Forecast Grade: B+
Short-Term Forecast Confidence: High
Today’s Conditions: Sunny, breezy and cooler today.
Today’s High Temps: Near 69.
Today’s Winds: Breezy from the north this morning, becoming light and variable later today.
Raw Model Data: (combined numerical output range from three different NOAA weather models)
Appleton: High of 69.
Madison: Highs 70-71.
Milwaukee: Highs 65-67.
Tonight: Clear. Lows in the mid- 40s.
Tomorrow’s Conditions: Sunshine in the morning, a few afternoon clouds.
Tomorrow’s Temps: Highs in the lower 70s.
Tomorrow’s Winds: Becoming breezy again from the south.
Conditions: Sunshine continues on Wednesday, clouds increase on Thursday, then maybe a storm on Friday. This storm system gets stalled out west, so timing is subject to change (more than usual anyway!) We could have another round of storms this weekend, but I wouldn’t cancel any weekend plans for it.
High Temperatures: Warming back into the 75-80 degree range Wednesday, in the 80s Thursday, then cooling back down into the upper 60s to mid- 70s Friday and this weekend.
Extended Forecast Confidence: Low to medium
