Wisconsin Weather Update for November 28, 2011.

By: HaleStorm , 1:44 PM GMT on November 28, 2011

Weather is boring.
But this time of the year, I think many of us gladly accept boring weather compared to the alternative. A nearly-stationary area of high pressure located in southwestern Iowa this morning should keep the dry weather pattern around for a while. There is a big storm system out to our southeast that’s very slowly moving north. However, it’s currently projected to just barely miss Wisconsin, perhaps getting as close as Lake Michigan. Otherwise, besides a few light snow showers or flurries Thursday night and an Alberta Clipper next Sunday, conditions should stay dry with seasonable high temps in the 30s to near 40.

Today’s Forecast Grade: B
Short-Term Forecast Confidence: Medium

Wisconsin Forecast:
Today’s Conditions: Cloudy and cool for most of today. We might see some sunshine breaking through these low clouds later today.
Today’s High Temps: Slightly colder than yesterday, near 39 east-central, just above 40 south.
Today’s Winds: Light and variable.

Raw Model Data: (combined numerical output range from three different NOAA weather models)
Appleton: Highs 37-39.
Madison: High of 41.
Milwaukee: Highs 38-42.

Tonight: Partly starry. Lows in the upper 20s.

Tomorrow’s Conditions: Mostly cloudy and windy. Southeastern Wisconsin could see some rain showers late but there’s a better chance that all of Wisconsin should stay dry. Chance of rain 25%.
Tomorrow’s Temps: Highs in the mid- to upper 30s. Lows tomorrow night near 20.
Tomorrow’s Winds: Windy from the north.

Extended Outlook:
Conditions: Maybe some light snow showers or flurries Thursday night. Otherwise, the next storm system doesn’t look to arrive until Sunday night, and with that Alberta Clipper still a week away, who knows what will happen with the projections over the next week. So enjoy the boring.
High Temperatures: Near 40 Wednesday and Thursday, dropping through the 30s next weekend, and the start of next week may not even hit 30. Sorry.
Extended Forecast Confidence: Medium
