Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can’t see any clouds in the Sea or for that matter none in the past 24 hours.
Looking south to the Mexican Riviera: There has been no thunderbumper activity along the west coast of Mexico or any clouds for the past 24 hours. You have to look to Central America to see and thunderbumper activity.
In the Gulf of Tehuantepec the Tehuantepecker continues today with gale force winds. Salena Cruz on the northern coast of the bay reported 35 knot winds early this morning. It will abate to around 20 later tonight and tomorrow and then pick up to gale force winds on Thursday.
Looking now at the monsoon trough and the ITCZ and I can see there is very little convection along 10N this morning. You have to look out toward Hawaii to see any clouds at all.
That’s if for our hood so looking now north to the west coast of America where there will be big changes in the weather this week.
Starting at the top of this image in the Great Northwest where a cold front will be moving through starting tonight followed by rain in the valleys and snow in the Cascades. Patchy fog and sub freezing temperatures are forecast for Seattle tonight and tomorrow. The rest of the week look just as bleak.
Northern California will see cooler, wetter and windier weather this week as a pair of systems move down from the Gulf of Alaska. The first will arrive today and will produce little in the way of rain for the valleys just gusterly conditions in the 30-40 mph ranges in the Sacramento Valley
The second colder system is forecast to arrive on Thursday with light to moderate showers in the valleys into Friday. Several inches of snow are expected in the trans-Sierra passes tomorrow and snow levels will drop to around 4000 ft in the Sierras south of Lake Tahoe on Thursday.
Yesterday in the Q&A someone asked me if I thought that the high off the coast of Oregon as it moved east would it create Santa Ana conditions for southern California. I emphatically said,” NO”. Well this morning I’m saying emphatically “YES”. You were spot on.
The wind event will however be short in duration on Wednesday as that high passes over the Nevada plateau.
Today that trough of low pressure I mentioned earlier moving out of California into southern Nevada and Southwest Arizona today will be bringing some low clouds and fog along with gusterly winds in the mountains and deserts. The systems moving through to the north this week will affect the southland later in the week and on Friday bring the possibility of showers and locally strong winds into the weekend.
Looking now over to the southwest where they will have one last day of well above normal temperatures today before the weather takes a turn for the colder. The first of several cold fronts will move through the area late tonight into tomorrow bringing cooler temperatures and windy conditions. Thursday should be a quiet day before a second and much stronger cold front moves into the southwest. The weekend will most likely be wet and cold with temperatures topping out in the 60s for the lower deserts. That will be some 20-25 degrees cooler than today. Freezing temperatures can be expected above 4500 ft and the cool weather will remain well into next week.
Back down here across the border it looks like the first of November will have few changes for us. Today will be pleasant with very moderate winds. Tomorrow the northern and Central Sea south to around Puerto Escondido Sea will see strong northerlies. Thurs it’s back to our normal winter pattern of moderate afternoon breezes. You may want to think about finding that sweat shirt you tucked away last spring. The mornings will start to cool down.
I though I take a second to talk about time since no one seem to know the correct time. Last Sunday morning. Baja California and Baja California Sur returned to Standard Time with the exception of Tijuana and Mexicali, which will return to Standard Time along with the United States this coming Sunday. For the rest of this week northern Baja California is one hour ahead of California time and Baja California Sur is two hours ahead of California time. Next week California and Baja Norte will be one hour ahead of Baja sur.
I better repeat that because I know some of you are looking at your ships chronometers right now, saying, “What did he say”? . For the rest of this week Baja California is one hour ahead of California time and Baja California Sur is two hours ahead of California time. Next week California and Baja Norte will be one hour ahead of Baja sur.
