Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that there has been a lot of thunderbumper activity over in Sonora in the past 24 hours. I can see a steady stream of moisture moving up into Arizona keeping their monsoon season active.
I can see a lot of remnant clouds that are a mix of whispys and fluffys around the Sea this morning. I would imagine that the fluffys will burn off by early morning and the whispys could be with us through the afternoon. Mostly sunshine though.
Looking south to the Mexican Riviera I can see several off shore squalls between Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlan moving toward the cape at 6am. By 7am they had merged into one and lost some intensity however the storm was taking dead aim on the cape. The webcam at the Cabo showed heavy clouds and it looked like it was starting to rain there.
Earlier this morning a good size storm moving through the southern crossing and dissipated around Los Mochas. This storm is the one that is leaving most of the remnant clouds in the Sea this morning.
Looking further south, all along the west coast of Mexico I can see very heavy thunderbumper activity.
As advertized we have a tropical storm this morning. Perhaps by the time I report this she will be hurricane Dora. Anyway I’m thinking sometime this morning she will be upgraded to cat 1 hurricane status. The models continue to show her passing the cape to the SW. Much the same as Calvin. This current image suggests that the cape will see some rain from this system this weekend. We’ll see.
Dora is now about 300 miles west of the Gulf of Tehuantepec and moving NW at around 14 mph with 55 mph winds. The satellite image is not showing much of a cyclonic pattern yet.
That’s it for our hood so looking now north to the west coast of America where it is cloudy or overcast all along the coast this morning. Inland mostly sunny.
Southern California will continue to be warm and sunny today as high pressure persists over the region. There will be a slight dip in the temperatures mid week as a trough deepens along the west coast but by the weekend high pressure will again be dominate over the region.
Looking now over to the southwest where the monsoon will be active into the upcoming weekend. Some storms will generate strong gusterly winds and local forecasters are saying watch out for heavy rain today perhaps some flash flooding. This image is showing Arizona is mostly overcast this morning.
Well, no rain in Baja today. Yesterday afternoon it looked like we might have some thunderbumper activity back in the mountains but alas….no joy.
Today’s winds very moderate southerlies in the Sea today. The northern and central Sea will have an eastern component and the southern Sea a western component to the southern winds.
