Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea I can see that starting late yesterday afternoon a large thunderbumper starting building around the Los Mochas area and moved out into the Sea and moved north during the night finally ending up just east of the Bay of La. Lightning was seen here in the bay last night and this morning at this storm passed to the east.
Several locations reported light sprinkles during the night.
This morning the only place in the Sea that is NOT overcast is around San Filipe.
A national forecast is saying that this moisture is from the remnants of Tropical Storm Arlene. Several days ago the National Hurricane Center mentioned that a weak low that was the remnant of sister Arlene was SW of the cape. Yesterday and this morning, using the views of several satellites, I am unable to locate anything that could be Arlene’s remnants. So I’m going to challenge their forecast and say that this is not Arlene’s remnants but just the beginnings of the normal summer pattern.
Looking south it looks like the southern crossing is overcast this morning with remnant clouds.
It looks like just about every location along the Riviera had a thumper over it sometime last night or this morning including the Gulf of Tehuantepec further south. Most of the thunderbumper activity was along the southern shores. They are forecast to have 20+ knots of wind today and tomorrow.
Looking at the monsoon trough and the ITCZ it looks like there is a bit more convection building along the zone this morning that the past few days going out to around 130.
Satellite imagery and the National Hurricane Center are saying that low that developed off the coast of Guatemala yesterday is now gone and it looks like there is nothing else in our tropical kitchen to alarm us for at least the next 48 hours.
So with that looking north now to the west coast of America where the heat wave continues with high pressure blanketing the western conus. Triple digit afternoon temperatures are again forecast for inland California cities.
Tropical moisture continues to drawn into the swirl around the high over the Great Basin the outer edges are bringing in subtropical moisture into southern California along with the chance, er probability of afternoon thunderbumpers in the mountains and deserts.
A trough of low pressure just leaving the Gulf of Alaska this morning will dig along the west coast late in the week bringing dry and cooler conditions to southern California.
Looking now over to the southwest where along with the triple digit temperatures the National Weather Service has issued blowing dust advisories with winds forecast to be in the 30-50 mph ranges with visibilities around a quarter of a mile.
Abundant moisture in the area will provide afternoon and evening monsoonal thunderbumpers for most of the southwest today.
Back on this side of the border in the northern Sea moderate southerlies. The central Sea (Santa Rosalia to Concepcion Bay) will have a northern component. Puerto Escondido south to the cape the moderate winds will have a southern flavor.
As these remnant clouds from last night thunderbumpers dissipate we should be seeing some clearing later this morning or early afternoon.
Temperatures will be in the mid low to 90s today.
