Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that the Sea has had another 24 hours of cloudless skies.
Looking south along the west coast of Mexico and the Mexican Riviera it too has been cloud free.
Looking out into the Eastern Pacific basin I can see there is not a lot of activity along the ITCZ/Monsoon trough this morning. Just a few rather small thumpers scattered along 12N.
There is nothing cooking in our Tropical Kitchen this morning. Looking over into the Atlantic we still have a Tropical Wave heading or way but it is still a long ways out. The Gulf of Mexico has its first tropical storm of the season this morning with the arrival of tropical storm Andrea. She is expected to drench Florida starting tomorrow before heading up the eastern seaboard.
Not much going on in our hood so looking now north to the west coast of America where at the top of this chart it looks like Seattle will see at least partial sun for today and tomorrow before another series of systems brings rain to the Great Northwest on Friday.
In northern California it will be hot going into the weekend. Triple digit temperatures in the Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys through the end of the week. San Francisco will see temperatures in the mid to high 70s this week.
In southern California the high pressure is bringing hot weather to the inland areas. Temperatures in the California deserts will exceed 110 degrees for the remainder of the week. Needles is forecast to be around 116 this week.
Around 500 miles off the southern California coast the 1016 high is set up and Las Vegas was 1004 this morning so with this gradient the winds will be gusterly in the 20 knot ranges along the coast in the late afternoon and evening hours.
It looks like Sunday and Monday a low will move through California and cool the state back down to the seasonal norms.
Looking now over to the southwest with the exception of a slight chance of showers and thunderbumpers across the White Mountains this afternoon and evening hot and dry are the forecast into the middle of next week. Temperatures in Tucson will be around 107 for the remainder of the week.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the fence it looks like we will have one more day of moderate northerly winds in the northern and central Sea before we start to see a prolonged period of southerlies.
Here are the wind details for the 3-day forecast period.
The northern Sea: light NE today, Light SE tomorrow and then moderate SE on Saturday.
The Central Sea: Guaymas area: moderate NW today, moderate SE tomorrow and the high teens on Saturday from the SE.
The Baja side: moderate NE today, moderate SE tomorrow then strong SE on Saturday.
The southern Sea: The San Lorenzo channel, La Paz and the nearby islands: light to moderate SE today and tomorrow then light to moderate SW on Saturday.
The East Cape: light to moderate ESE for the 3-day forecast period.
The Sonoran passage: moderate SW winds for the next 3 days along the Sonoran coast for Mazatlan to Guaymas.
The Mexican Riviera: it looks like moderate SW winds for the 3-day forecast period.
