Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that the Sea of Cortez has had another day of no cloudiness.
Looking south to the Mexican Riviera it is a different story. From back in the mountains east of Puerto Vallarta to around Manzanillo there have been numerous thunderbumper developing and moving toward the coast. This morning there is one over Cabo Corrienties and another over Manzanillo. Rain in both locations this morning.
Then you get to hurricane Carlotta. In this image the eye has collapsed. As of early this morning she was about 160 miles ESE of Acapulco with sustained winds of 75 mph. she is about 30 miles inland and the mountains are starting to take it toll on her. The result is that sister Carlotta is expected to meander inland over south-central Mexico and steadily weaken become a tropical storm later today and become a depression by tonight.
The major problem is the squalls along the coast for the next couple of days and very heavy rains especially over the mountains causing flash flooding and mudslides.
It looks like the sphere of influence will extend north to around Cabo Corrienties where they can expect to see high, perhaps dangerous surf along the coast. The southern crossing is not forecast to have seas greater than 3-5 feet over the next couple of days but to be on the safe side I’d postpone a crossing until Monday.
And that’s not all that’s in the tropical kitchen this morning. About 500 miles southwest of Manzanillo there is a broad area of low pressure with lots of thunderbumper activity in the area. It has not been designated at invest at this time and will most likely peter out with sister Carlotta taking most of the moisture from the area
That’s what is going on in our hood so looking now north to the west coast of America where at the top of this image the Great Northwest will see light showers again today as a series of weak lows move though the northern Washington.
To the south, the rest of Washington, Oregon and California will be warm along the coast and hot inland. Sacramento will hit 109 today.
Southern California under weak low pressure will continue to have a deep marine layer extending inland until early afternoon. Tomorrow the low will give way to building high pressure and warm things up a bit.
Looking over to the southwest where the Tucson area will see 101 today and Sunday will be around 107 and around 110 in the lower deserts.
There is not much moisture in the air but the real weather guys are still hinting that there is still a chance of some thunderbumper activity in the southeastern part of the state in the mountains. We’ll see?
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence the northern Sea will see moderate northerly winds over the 3-day forecast period with stronger westerly winds along the Sonoran coast Saturday and Sunday.
The central Sea moderate northerlies for the 3-day forecast period.
The southern Sea starting around Puerto Escondido with very moderate winds will have a southern flavor, southwestern along the East Cape.
Temperatures about the same as yesterday and be in the mid to high 90s.
