FRIDAY, AUGUST 3/06

Millpond calm, slight overcast, temp 16C. Forecasting a possibility of showers for today, but great weather for the gathering.

Police presence gone from the picture as of yesterday. I am sure a few extra bodies around, but not obvious. A good thing for all concerned. Spoke with a person close to the action that night, no intent to take such drastic action. The opposing groups gathered and from calling one another out it escalated to the end result. A mob mentality prevailed, now time to move forward, get the young men incarcerated back into the community and as a community work on the drug problem. All obvious factors, now to get it to work will be the challenge.

Rob getting the van loaded to insure we are at the boat in plenty of time. The mainland awaits, and a visit to WEST 49 to check out the skateboarding regalia, prior to moving onto Fredericton.

Good afternoon Jacko, always great to hear from a fellow.

Lobsters are referred to a 'bugs' in this part of the world because there resemblence to an insect of some sort. Lots of speculation on the how the first fellow to try them got by the way the look.

You must be sleeping in this fine Sunday morning!
Got a question for you. SWFLSurvivor was supposed to go on a lobstering trip in the Keys this weekend, but the remnants of Chris put a moratorium on boats going out. She mentions "bugs" as a term for lobsters. Now, I've heard the term, but have no idea why lobsters are called "bugs". Would you have any insight into that?

Oh, it sounds so cool up there! Hope none of your friends/family are down here for golf. It's WAY too hot to be out on the links....
