A change in the weather from the events of yesterday. Currently clear, a cold -12C with a slight westerly draft, wind to make a shift southerly and warm up and gradually make it to the plus side by this afternoon. Southerly, milder, windy and showers for tomorrow.

Yesterday the weather had about everything, early in the AM freezing rain, then sleet, and blowing snow for most of the day. No power outages, traffic able to move about with no problem, school cancelled throughout the Province. Some folks attempting to head south had travel plans in jeopardy, should be able to get back on line today.

Fishery news quiet, weather and cold water temps making the lobster fishing quiet for the moment.

Dear Rob:

Greetings! I see you made it. :) Honestly, I have never quite seen anything like yesterday. It started to freezing rain on Wednesday night and it never stopped. It just kept coming and coming and coming. When Cody and I got up on Thursday morning - it was a nightmare. We couldn't get out the kitchen door. The freezing rain was piled up, by several inches, against it. We finally escaped another way only to be greeted by frozen cars. We got Cody open and starting to thaw first. Shovelling was a no-go! It was like sand. We scraped off what we could. Cody made a run for it and I'm pretty sure he got air at the end of the driveway.

Me next! It was like h***! Finally left for work on roads that couldn't be described as roads.

It just kept up all day long. Freezing rain, snow, wind, snow, blizzard like snow. It didn't stop till way past my bed time.

All my gutters are frozen and now running over with melt water and then freezing again. The deck has at least 6" of frozen solid snow/ice that can't be moved - ditto the driveway. I HAVE HAD IT!

Okay, rant over! I hope your week has been better than mine. A fire and a new art book await me. I intend to do nothing but couch tonight. After yoga tomorrow I will think about how I can start cleaning this up. ARG.

Word. Chunks.

Mornin CHUNKS, a fine wintry effort it is, at least clear along with the cold, no snow or freezing rain. We had a messy few hours, but no major snow build up, and the freezing rain made the bare trees picaresque but not enough to bring any down or cause concern for power lines.

Just got a note from Rob requesting a top up for the weekend, he is housebound is his rationale, thought the saving for fuel might be in his pocket apparently not the case.

Gerald and Otis have been out and about, or at least visiting this past little while, not much to report other than the winter is beginning to be long for the pair of them, not only them.

Enjoy the weekend.
