A weather change in the offing, now total calm, partial overcast, a cool -7C, to rise on the plus side with a southerly flow, precip to be rain for most of next week, temps on the plus side.

Rob in the Big Smoke for the weekend, no call for cash as yet, or any other call for that matter. Emily has had a week at the 'tank-house', quite enjoying it, also the payday is of great interest.

This evening a community gathering in honour of Donna's great uncle Smiles(Oliver) GREEN. He will be hitting the Century Mark in a couple of weeks, a truly amazing individual, lives alone, drives wherever he wants to go,if he desires a feed of clams digs them himself. A surprise for him, people are gathering, from all parts of North America, he is one of those rare individuals you meet once and are his friend and you are enriched by the contact. When Alice was alive they made a great couple, any accolades they receive this evening well deserved.

Dear Rob:

This just in - Smiles has a four page spread in the new SALTSCAPE magazine just out. It is a wonderful story of all his exploits and ways of doing things over his 100 years. Get one - it is awesome.

Jeanne and Gerald would love to go to Smiles party tonight but Jeanne is very scared that they won't be able to get anywhere to park, with many hundreds being expected to turn out. Gerald is not that steady on his feet any more and Jeanne really can't walk that far either. I tried to convince her to get Chris or someone to drive them up, but in true Grand Manan style - she 'doesn't want to put anyone out. Sigh!!!! She is planning on doing a detailed writing to him regarding all their times together. I told her I hoped she had started writing at least a month ago. :) I wish I could have come over and taken them down myself but I am swamped here. Tonight is the Santa Claus parade in Hampton and I also have to meet my woodsman at 1:30 to go over where the skidder is allowed to be and not. I want sustainable cutting for the environment. He just wants to 'get er done'. We will be at 'logger heads' again, but really he does have respect for what I am trying to do with the 300 acre wood.

Just back from pretzel class so must burn it or I will be late. Don't want to keep someone standing around too long in -9.

Have a great time at the party. Full report tomorrow - time permitting.

Word. Chunks.

Wow... 100, still lives alone, drives and digs his own clams? That's wonderful. Extend my well wishes to this amazing gentleman. I hope the surprise gathering for him this evening meets expectations and that everyone has an enjoyable time.
