A grand one in commence this morning, bright sun, total calm, high water gives more of a lake scene than Bay of Fundy. Temp a cool 11C, to rise mid 20's by this afternoon, long range saying same conditions for next week.

Emily enjoying the weekend on the mainland, will make the return tomorrow. Quite a bit warmer inland than she has enjoyed here on the Bermuda of the Maritimes.

Nursing Home finally taking shape, final problems with roof line resolved. A great deal of the shingling completed, drywall and framing going on inside. Still early 2014 before folks can make the move, a great improvement from the current building.

Hi, Rob, just swinging by to wish you a great Sunday.

School is cranking up here, as well. Tomorrow marks the day grade schools open up and my summer break from so much traffic during the weekday commutes is over.

Justapluggin, are you going to the Community tab, then the recently updated blogs tab? Rob puts up a new entry daily, so he should always be on the 'recently updated blogs' page. I sometimes have to scroll down a bit, later in the day, but first thing in the mornings, he should be up near the top.

You can also add Rob's blog to 'My Favorite Blogs' tab. Up at the top of this page, just underneath 'About GrandManan' there's a thingy that says 'Add to Favorites.' Click on that and it will add his blog to your 'My Favorite Blogs' tab on the Community page.

We are having the most enjoyable weather of the summer. Temps at sunrise low to mid 50's, highs of the day low to mid 70's and ever so slight sea breeze later in the afternoon all create the perfect weather for me. We have had some early morning fog but it burns off quickly.

The wet weather of spring and early summer created the perfect breeding grounds for skitters. When the hot humid weather of July hit, the bugs hit as well. We saw an ocean sunfish Friday close to the island. They appear to be made up of spare parts as they are all body and no fins to speak of other than floppy fins. How a fish so big at 500 pounds moves with so little means of propulsion is a mystery to me. It seems like they move with the tide.

Lobsters abound but some drop off on certain bottom.
