MONDAY, JULY 8/13

By: GRANDMANAN , 10:46 AM GMT on July 08, 2013

A change in the weather underway, still very humid, temp a mere 21C, expected to rise mid 20's. A slight draft from NE overcast, suggesting the forecast of showers for next day may be in order. A welcome change from the high temps of the past several days.

Rob out the door, Emily a little behind him this morning as no outside responsibilities on tap for this week.

Fishery news quiet, believe there are some herring around, one more being built in Pettes Cove. Some halibut trawl going in the water this morning.

Dear Rob:

We never left the deck i.e. shade, yesterday until 7:30 p.m. It was 34 most of the day. Disgusting!!! I can hardly believe it was 30 in Grand Manan, and you are right - that is totally unheard of.

There must be more than enough herring if there is a new weir being built - big bucks must be expecting big returns. I hope so. Last year was a disaster.

Went for a drive last night to check out progress on the new woods road. And, speaking of deer flies - they were so thick they were flying alongside the car, landing on it, and trying to bite. If we didn't have air conditioning we would be nothing but skeletons right now. Windows up were the order of the day,

Well, off to Costco - on a Monday no less - so might not make it home from there alive either. :)

Have a good one We have lower temps but still muggy as heck. Hopefully, Saint John will be less so.

Mornin CHUNKS, we have endured similar weather, quite something when you can travel from end of the island to the other without any relief in temp. At Deep Cove mid afternoon yesterday, a nice SW breeze coming off the water, no change in temp still 30C, go figure.

At home had no problem with flies, to date at least, did have a few Deer Flies to contend with while mowing on Saturday, again unusual for our part of the island. Might be some rain in the forecast, but none showed up as yet, enjoy the good weather but these past few days have been too much of a good thing.

Boat traffic seems to be steady, but no overwhelming the extra spaces making a big difference. Lots of local travel leaving on 9:30AM trip, a novel experience, one doesn't have to turn out so early if just travelling or a trip that requires one to be at an appointment later in the day.

Stay cool.

So sorry you guys are having such horrible heat. Now you know what we deal with from April to October. I hate it but not enough to have two houses. We love Jackson Hole and would really like to live out there if it weren't for the bad winters. Humm guess I am never happy.

Sounds like Rob and Emily are off to a happy summer. Let's hope Chantal doesn't bother either of us. Have a good week.
