The poor weather conditions still in evidence, wind now NE 20-25KPH, drizzle, this is the order for today. Letting up possibly overnight with sun and warmer temps coming our way during the next few days.

The weather god relented yesterday by mid-morning, rain quit, sun and overcast with nice temps for the day. This allowed the CANADA DAY CELEBRATIONS to get underway with more than a little success. The Greasy Pole last event at 6PM, tide not co-operating till that hour. The weather was going back by early evening, however believe still able to 'git r done'.

A few boats gearing up for a very limited quota of halibut to be caught. Thinking is probably a couple of days will look after the allocation as it stands today.

Made the trip to PE and back over the last 5 days. Canada Day is the day to travel as no traffic on the road from Summerside to St Stephens. Good time had by all while those here dealt with the same nasty weather you have had on GM.

Suppose there is any coincidence in the fact that our hard shell lobster price went up $1.00 a pound yesterday (7/1/13) and your season closed 6/29/13? Not that we are catching enough hard shells to make any difference but both sides of border could have used that price increase back in May and June. PE lobstermen were on quota per day while getting $3.50 per pound. The quota was a moving target as it changed often.

Summer has arrived if the number of visitors is an indication of summer. For 9 months of the year little or no traffic on our road but for summer months a different story. Thankfully no public car ferry to Cranberry Isles or we would be inundated on our narrow little paths we call roads.
