WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 16/13

By: GRANDMANAN , 11:48 AM GMT on January 16, 2013

Calm, sky indicating a change in the weather enroute, snow by this evening, amounts unknown. We are on the edge of snow or rain. Temp -4C, to rise and stay around the 0C level till nightfall. Cold temps in the forecast a couple of days out.

Lobster fishery slowed down, hockey activity picked up. What lobsters being landed bringing more than 4$/lb, supply and demand at work. Scallops appear to be steady, price in $9/lb area. Duck Island Sound producing some low counts, first day some coming in at 13/lb, more like a steak rather than a scallop, not many to fill a plate.

Nursing Home construction becoming more visual, masons on site, now can see some walls going up. Hope is to have folks moved in and made at home for 2013 Christmas Dinner.

Thanks for the update. 13 scallops per lb is great. The fish markets here in Cape Coral are charging $20 per lb for that size. Weather here has been a constant 85* and sunny for the past 2 weeks.

Dear Rob:

Do you mean to say that somebody got a scallop - I mean one scallop - that weighed 13 lbs? If so, I was wondering if you were part of Gerald's Man Cave liar's club? HaHa I would love to see, or have, the shell that this monster came from.

We have light snow already - 1:10 p.m. Figure we are in for at least 10 cm. I am shovelling nothing. Hopefully, I will be able to get air as I clear the end of the driveway tomorrow morning. THIS IS A PROTEST - and of course I will end up shovelling anyway because hubby is on afternoons and won#t be here to do it. It always storms when he is on afternoons or mid-nights.

Haven,t heard how Gerald did on operation yet. Hopefully, I will get to talk to Jeanne today.

Have fun shovelling tonight. It should be fun. Blarg!
