THURSDAY, MARCH 22/12

By: GRANDMANAN , 10:44 AM GMT on March 22, 2012

A repeat of yesterday getting underway, bright red sun, temp an amazing 15C, not enough draft to move the flag. Temp to rise into mid 20's, yesterday nearly 27C by mid-afternoon. Temp and weather pattern today beginnng to lose some temp by the weekend, still very nice.

Managed to locate some trees for wood manufacture, clearing site for new Nursing Home has three or four cord ready to saw into stove length, good chance for sure.

Local hockey still in good demand, playoffs for local league in commence. End of the month the plant turned off till next fall, the complex being well used, a grand addition to the community.

Dear Rob:

I don't think that I have ever been in Grand Manan when it has been 27 - and I am usually there in July and August. Can you imagine! Today was yet another stellar day. We had +25 and hot as heck.

If the weather turns around - back to snow or cold - I don't know what we are going to do.

I suppose that all are bemoaning the closing of the rink soon. Oh well, with baseball and such there will be plenty else to do. I know everyone loves the skating though.

Well, hope you enjoyed the day.

Word.

Afternoon David, indeed the weather is something that we can only anticipate a few months from now, certainly saves on the wood pile.

Believe your price is nearly a $1 better than what I am hearing locally, take advantage while you can. Once there are more traps in the water the price will no doubt drip back 'where it should be', whatever that is.

Haven't noticed many traps in shore as yet, however a few of the guys that primarily fish short lines are now getting the traps off. Water temps should be on the rise, has been no cold or northerly breezes all winter. In yars past this month has been the coldest temps in the water, not the case this past few years.

Lots of deer around the side of the road, some paying the price this past week or so. Haven't had the brant form up in front of the house as yet, but large flocks of geese and more ducks in evidence. Spring is near if not arrived.

Have a good one.

Good morning,
Yet another keeper of a day, or should I say keeper of the week. I launched the boat on 3/14 and since 3/16 I have been out every day setting gear/hauling gear. Great weather and a higher then expected price tend to get the juices flowing. Price at $6.50 which is a bit high for the market place in my mind but good for us. High prices early in the spring usually come back to bite us in the butt.

The deer ate the top buds off one of my little apple trees last week. I have to create some type of protection for my grape vines before the deer find them. Last year I spotted my first snake on 3/27/11. I took a peak around yesterday but found none.

The arena is probably the only air conditioned building on GM this time of year. Who would have ever thought there would be such a difference in temp between inside the arena and the outside.
