A different weather day this morning, the forecast for yesterday pretty well on the mark for us. Lots of snow, rain, wind well into the night. Currently high winds 40-50KPH WNW, overcast and -2C with windchill seems in minus double digits. Clearing, sun, but wind to remain for the weekend.

Ferry remains tied up, the problem more serious than first thought. A seal where the shaft enters the hull has been the problem, remains to be determined if she can be repaired while in the water or a quick trip to dry dock to address the problem. The GRAND MANAN V being prepared to return, suspect she will be on the run when the ADVENTURE is given clearance to operate on one engine. The weather conditions not helping to allow her to travel. Last ferry trip was late on Thursday. Appears Emily destined to remain home this weekend regardless.

Great remarks on the MARS mini-documentary and ad, the ad will be released nationally on Monday.

Rob, I was so thrilled to watch the Grand Manan "Mini Doc". I thought it was a wonderful look at the island. You must be so proud. it was fun seeing you as Chunks said. I feel like I spent part of my life learning about the hockey arena from your writing on WU. It is just magnificent. Again thank you for sharing your island with all of us.

Thought you might enjoy "mini documentary", the ad comes out on Monday across the country. The five minute effort taken from 24hours of footage.

Rob is macho guy skating in shirt sleeves, temp in the rink a balmy -5C at the time. The gang putting the thing together numbered over 40 individuals.

Dear Rob:

After I read your note I went to YouTube and watched the commercial. IT IS TOTALLY AWESOME!!!!

Saw the pic of you - now I know what you look like so you can't stay incognito any more :). Chris' boat is also in there and a very good shot of it indeed.

Is L'il Rob in it? Let me know if so - so I can watch for him.

That commercial certainly would bring a tear to your eye if you were a displaced Grand Mananer - like me.

Thanks for the suggestion. I really enjoyed it.

p.s. It has been a totally beautiful day here. If you wear a coat it is too hot in the stores. The ice rinks remain outside. Just saw two of my deer gingerly trying to make their way over to the feeding station. Poor things.

Afternoon CHUNKS, lots of rain here almost back to no snow, temps near freezing, clear, but still lots of wind.

Emily gettng on quite well, she and her mother off to the market for a lunch and a visit. Next weekend is being planned, seems the prom dress expedition slowly working into my calander. Seems she is one of the last to get a 'dress', after all they will have only so many.

Still no ferry as yet, the ADVENTURE has left but the V hasn't made a run today, expect they have some things to get on board before she makes the move.

Did you look up the mini-documentary? A great FIVE MINUTE watch, it is on You Tube -MARS GRAND MANAN will get you there or on FACEBOOK, GRAND MANAN COMMUNITY ARENA will do it. Lots of great video, five minutes from TWENTY-FOUR HOURS somebody knows what they are doing.

Time to pick up mom for her tour, amazing what she picks out on the drive about, just after telling me her vision isn't what it used to be, at 94 yrs. a little fading should be expected.

Dear Rob:

There will be a skating party in my back yard today. We had snow, freezing rain (and lots of it), then rain. What a mess. Cars driving up the street sound like huge transports, due to the crunching of ice under tires. I wonder if the gravel they put down will be adequate?

Can't believe the boat is down once again. Thank God the Grand Manan V has not been shipped off to the bone yard. Once again, she will come to the rescue.

Emily will, for sure, be disappointed about not getting away this weekend but tell her that the driving over here is not that great either, so not sure about how happy she would be to try and attempt it.

I will keep my eyes open for the commercial. I am pumped to see it.

Have a great day and watch where you walk. Could be
d(icy)! :)
