Notes about station status, measurements, local happenings and random inconvenient observations.

Instead of technical difficulties I have ... cows. Curious, pushy, annoying and at times destructive cows. They arrived the same day that I poured the concrete for the new station post. I put a picket line of metal fence posts around it and the calves decided that looked like a fun spot so they snuggled right in between for a nap. So the station will stay in it's box until I figure how to keep them out while providing access for station maintenance and minimizing grounds maintenance.
After a bit of research I discovered that the Army is switching from aluminum portable antenna masts to something lighter. The surplus masts are available on eBay for a pretty good price. So after checking with the farmer who rents my field I'm looking to put up a 10M (32.8 ft) mast with six guys wires on two levels. Should be a fun project!
