Hi, Dad.

I just logged on to see what the weather forecast was going to be for my drive up. I might hit some showers; I might not. The heaviest rain will be overnight and some in the morning.

I hope to get there between, oh, say, 11:45 and 12:30.

If I do run into any heavy rain, I'll pull over until it passes. I don't like those hilly, secondary roads in heavy rain.

Looking forward to seeing you!

Hi, Dad.

I'm scurrying around, trying to get work
done before clocking out this afternoon.
If I don't have too much backlog from
this week, it makes next week's start much

Will pack my overnight bag after I get home
and put it in the truck, along with our
(belated) Christmas. I'll try to get out
the door as early as I can but, depending on
road conditions and how many pit stops I make,
I'll get there around lunchtime.

Well, Dad, it looks like I may have a wet
drive this weekend. I just hope Mother
Nature keeps it down to the odd light
shower. I don't want buckets!

I did stop at Pep Boys on the way home
yesterday to pick up a new windshield
wiper. The driver's side was smearing,
instead of wiping. The biggest smear
was right at eye level.

It had been doing it for a couple of
months. Unless it rained, though, I never
thought about it.

With the forecast this weekend, I figured I'd
better buy a replacement. I don't want to be
driving hilly, secondary roads in pouring down
rain and have one of those logging trucks cresting
the rise in front of me. That scares the
bejeebers out of me! I need to be able to see.

Hi, Dad.

The lip is fine but the tongue is still
a bit sore.

I've been watching the weather forecast
for this weekend. At first, it looked
like it was going to be sunny and clear.

Then, they started calling for scattered
showers Saturday and scattered thunderstorms

I haven't looked at it today. It can
change from one day to the next.

Our staff meeting ran long today, which
didn't help me much on my desk. I
managed to get a litte work done on my
usual daily stuff but I'll have to start
pulling those bills as soon as I finish

Expect me Saturday about 12:00 or so. I'll
try to get on the road as early as I can
Sat morning. I'll have to stop in O'burg
for gas and a pit stop.

Sunday, I'll have to leave by 1:00 or a
little after, if I want to get home before
dark. Or at least, be in my home stomping
grounds when it hits.

Hi, Dad.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Were ya'll having some kind of Valentine's
drop in this morning?

I got an email "L" must have sent out to
her email group, with an invite to stop
by around 10:30 today.

Whatever it was, I hope you enjoyed the

We have a staff meeting tomorrow, which
shoots holes all in my schedule.

I got an audit yesterday that I have to
pull bills on for another office. It's
about 15 pages long and has over 200
accounts on it. I'd been kind of
half way expecting one to rear its ugly
head. I have to get that done this week.

Dentist appt went OK. I don't know how
much novocaine he shot into my jaw but
it didn't wear off for almost 5 hours.

I kept waiting to eat supper, 'cause I
knew I'd chew up my tongue and mouth.
I was about starved by the time I caved in
and started nibbling on some chicken, peppers
and bread about 7:45. It took me an hour to
eat it and I do have sore spot on my tongue
and my lower lip today.

That shot didn't wear off completely until
about 9:30.

early to go over to the dentist.

We're just barely above 32F here at 10:30.
The high for us today will be 45. Maybe.
We've got a lot of wind, too.

I'm glad I got all my errands run yesterday,
so I don't have to get out for anything. I
do have some dusting and picking up to do
but that's inside.

Had a nice visit with 'J' yesterday. She
usually goes to 5:00 Mass on Saturday but
she may not have gone last night, due to
the cold. We just chit-chatted about this,
that and the other.

Gas has really shot up this past couple of
weeks or so. It ran me about 21.00 to put
about a quarter of a tank in the truck
yesterday. I had to get a new Walmart gift
card for gas, while I was there. The one
I had been using was so old, it wouldn't read anymore, when I asked to put more money on it,
when checking out. Luckily, I'd pretty much exhausted what was on it getting gas last
weekend, so I didn't lose much. A dollar or
less, maybe.

I won't gas up again until I get to O'burg
next Sat, on the way up.

Gus, the cat, is in hog heaven. I told him
last night that he better thank his lucky
stars he has a home now and wasn't out in
the cold last night. Frankly, he was so
debilitated when I took him in, that I doubt
he would even be alive, now. Or if he was,
the cold last night and tonight would do him

He's piled up on the bed in the front bedroom,
snoozing away, without a care in the world.

I'd better get that last load of clothes going.
Even though it is sunny and breezy out there,
they will take longer to dry with the cold

Hi, Dad.

Happy Saturday.

Aren't those some lovely roses that
Pros delivered yesterday?

I'll be going over to our cousin's
house in a little bit.

The sky is clear, so I hope to get
some laundry out, after I get back.

Do you remember how the fellows at Paul
Motor Ford (I think it was) used to call
you 'Jeff'? I haven't thought about that
in years.

Maybe it was Sandi telling me how she and
a couple of other bloggers were watching
a cruise ship sail from Adelaide harbor
earlier this morning. They were watching
it on a webcam. It reminded me of how we
would ride out to the airport to watch the
planes take off and land. It was probably
back around the time you first worked for
Paul Motor Ford. I guess that's what triggered
the memory of them calling you "Jeff".

Work is about the same. My soon-to-be new
manager asked about officially moving me but
our director said we have so much going on in
the office that she doesn't want any more
disruption. I'd just like to get that first
step over with. In my opinion, they can work
on fine tuning the redistribution of job duties

I can tell you all the details much easier,
when I see you next weekend. It's all really

Guess I'd better get a move on. I told 'J'
that I'd be over around 10:30. I still need
to get showered and dressed.

Hi, Dad.

Getting chillier, isn't it?

My appt with Dr. F. was fine yesterday. Mostly a 'meet and greet' and 'how're you doing?' than
anything else. I'll stop seeing him every six
months. All followups from surgery with be
with Dr. J.

I've got a dental appt Monday to fix that
cracked filling.

My next appts are in April. My six month
'meet and greet' with Dr. G, my PCP/GP.

My six month post op checkup with Dr. J is
in April, too.

I need to work in an appt with Dermatology
for a skin check later this year and I am
a bit overdue for a vision check with

I'm beginning to feel like my social
calendar consists of nothing but '
doctor appts!

I am NOT getting old!!!!!

Eeeh, Dad! It's getting kind of cold, isn't it?

I guess it's just as well that I didn't take all
my plants out of the greenhouse, like I was
thinking of doing. They'll need to be in
there this weekend, that's for sure.

I really do think Gus, the cat, planned the whole
thing out, sneaky little devil. I left him this morning, snoozing away on my footstool in the living room. Not a care in the world, now, except whether or not his food bowl is empty.

I went by Total Wine yesterday to see if they
had any Irish Mist. I was over there before
Christmas and they were out. They were out
again yesterday. I got some apricot brandy,
instead. Not the same but it is good and it'll

I don't go in there often enough to know where
everything is. I wind up wandering around, looking
at this, that and the other.

They do sell little mini bottles and I like to get
those to try things out and see if I like them.

I got one back in December that was really good.
It was Evan Williams' Honey Liqueur. Very
tasty. I thought about getting a larger bottle
of that but they were out of it yesterday, too.

Ah, well. I'll get some sometime. I do love my
brandies, cordials and liqueurs in cold weather.
Once it gets warm, I don't want them.

Hi, Dad.

I got your little email. You don't tap one
out very often, so it was a thrill. I
hadn't checked my gmail since Sunday and
wondered if there was anything in there I
needed to see.

I had mail from our St. Matthews cousins. "S"
wanted to know if Hubby and I were planning to
come up for the BBQ dinner later this month.
She needed to know how many tickets to order.

I regretfully passed. Hubby isn't going to feel
like driving up the road and back, after having
been up since 12:30 a.m. and working. He isn't all
that enthused about BBQ, either. I know everyone
would be glad to see us but you won't be there.

Hope you're finding something interesting to
occupy your time. It's been a bit chilly out.

Hi, Dad.

Its another busy day on Beetle Rock.

I think it is supposed to warm up some
today but I'm freezing in the office.

My hands are so cold, I find it hard to
type. It's a relief to make a trip to
the ladies room, so I can thaw my hands
out under the hot water spigot.

Well, back to work.....

Hi, Dad.

Got to work this morning, checked my
calendar and found out the appt I
thought was today is for Thursday.

I guess that's better than finding out
I missed it entirely.

Boy, it got cool overnight! I don't think
we'll reach 60F today at all. It is really
overcast out there but I don't think they're
calling for rain. We could use some.

Really busy today, so better get back to

Oh, have you been having fun with my word
lists this past couple of weeks? Had to
break out the dictionary? I've had to
look some of them up.

Hey, Dad.

I turned my computer on this morning but
every time I thought I'd have a few
minutes to sit down and get online, I'd
remember something that I needed to do.

Fixed a pot of chili today. It wasn't
one of my better efforts. It tasted OK
but wasn't as thick as I'd like it. Plus,
it was really a little hot for chili.

I'm sitting here now, with the front and
back doors open and I'm burning up.

I did have a nice visit with our cousin
yesterday. We sat and chatted about this,
that and the other. Somehow, we always
find ourselves talking about food and
cooking. I like listening to her tell
about the things she'd prepare for the
various functions she hosted when "D" was
still in the Navy.

We never did get any rain this weekend. WE
are starting to get rather dry.

I have a doctor's appt tomorrow. Routine
checkup. Then next week, I have another
dentist appt. I had my cleaning week before
last. One of my fillings has a crack in it
and has to be replaced. I'd spotted it
a few weeks ago and knew they would zero in
on it. Can't sneak anything past those

I upgraded our dental insurance during open
enrollment this past October, so hopefully,
our out of pocket expenses will be much
lower than before. Their rates have gone up
a lot, since we started seeing them. Of
course, that was over 20 years ago. They're
still not the most expensive ones in town.
And I like one thing about them: they don't
push you to do unnecessary work or choose the
most expensive options. I like the two
dentists in that practice and all their staff
is great. Hubby and I have been very satisfied
with their services. They let us pay off our
balances in 2 or 3 payments, too, instead of in

Better go. Masterpiece Theatre will be on
shortly and I've got my lunch stuff to get
together before I get sucked back into the TV.

Hey, Dad.

Happy Saturday.

Got an email from Aunt 'C' and she told
me that some of the folks from O'burg
and St. Matthews were to come up yesterday.
I know you enjoyed seeing everyone. Hope
the visit was a nice one.

I emailed her back to tell her that I would
be coming up for an overnight visit on the
18th and 19th. Wish it was for longer but
things at work are still in an uproar.

I overslept this morning, so I'm running a
bit late. I am going over to see our
cousin around 10:30, so need to get
showered, dressed and moving.

I spotted my bluebirds on the bluebird
house a few minutes ago. Spring seems
to have sprung, despite the fact that the
calendar says different.

The squirrels are pitching woo out there.
Got about 3 or 4 of them chasing around
on the trees.

My forsythia is already almost bloomed out.
Tulip trees have been in full bloom this
week. Azaleas look about ready to pop open
soon. I hope we don't have a hard freeze
before things are over with. That will
really mess up the azalea blossom time.

The bomb threat guy didn't have a bomb.
He'd lost his job, his house was in
foreclosure and the repo man was trying
to find him to take his Lexus SUV. He
snapped, I guess. He won't have to
worry about where he'll be living any
time soon, that's for sure. He'll have
3 hots and a cot with the state.

Better get going. Looking forward to
seeing you weekend after next.

Nice outside today, Dad, but a bit
cooler than yesterday. Still fairly
warm for Feb.

We had some guy making bomb threats
on the Ravenel Bridge yesterday. At
rush hour. Boy, it had traffic snarled
up in all directions. Even W. Ashley,
as everyone was having to re-route home.

They had the bridge closed, cops everywhere.
The guy wouldn't get out of his SUV until
after 5:00. No bomb. I think they pretty
much sent him straight off for psych

It was the second day in a row traffic
was snarled up. There was an 18 wheeler
overturned on I526 Wed. Everything downtown
and W. Ashley was bumper to bumper. At
rush hour.

I hate to think what might be out there today.
You know how everything comes in threes.

Have not gotten any kind of clear answer on
when I can get leave to come up for several

However, I am going to come up Saturday,
Feb. 18th and come back Sunday, Feb 19th.

I've not heard anything from "L" as to what
weekend was most convenient for her. If that
weekend does not suit her, I'll stay with
Aunt C&G or check in at a motel. My purpose in
coming is to see you. If she wants to go
off, she can. But I'll only be there overnight.

I will email Aunt C tonight, or this weekend, to
tell her when I'm coming.

Hey, Dad.

My hard drive here at work went
bad. I had to have one of the guys
from our Tech Dept come over and
fix me back up.

I guess that explains some of the
problems I've been having. But not
all of them, unfortunately.

I'm still up to my eyeballs in work.

We've got rain here today. I don't
think it's been much but it is grey
outside. Warm, though.

I had a nice little comment all type up
and my internet window shut down all by

I got the feeling its going to be another

work backlog. The fax I use is down.

Hi, Dad.

I never did get my computer online
for good yesterday... I had to move
to an empty desk and use that one.

I hate doing that. Everything I need
is back at my desk and it seems like
I spend as much time running back and
forth, as I spend working.

It seems better today. I've noticed a
couple of odd burps in the system but
it is working.

I'm still up to my eyeballs and I
expect to start hearing complaints about
the fact that I haven't gotten certain
things done. I'll get to everything but it
is just going to take time. I've already
talked with my new supervisor and manager
about the backlog of work. And why most of it
is still there.

I keep telling myself, "Job security, job
security, job security," but I know that no
one is irreplacable. I'll just have to hustle.

Other than that, it is lovely weather here this
week. Cool nights and fairly warm days.

Hi, Dad.

Not much time to do anything but
say "Hi".

Having computer issues today. No one
else seems to be having problems.

It happens to me all the time. Not sure
why. I'll be the only one.

It makes me feel like Joe Btfsplk. That
Al Capp character that always had a black
cloud over his head?

Well, lunch is over and back to work.

Not any better here today, either. It
just keeps piling up and piling up
faster than I can get it out.

Hi, Dad.

I had a nice visit with our cousin
yesterday. A bit short, as I wanted
to take advantage of the sunny weather
to get my laundry done.

She's doing OK. She did not want to
go to Walmart yesterday. She said she'd
go either today or later this week.

I did not discuss my work situation with
her. Maybe later. If I'd started telling
her, I'd get myself all worked up. I'm
trying to avoid thinking about it too
much, when I'm home. I dread going in
tomorrow. It's been a long time since
I've felt that way about my job. I know
it's the amount of work and the pressure
to get it done, that's stressing me out.

I wanted to tell you that I spotted the
blue birds getting their nesting box
ready early yesterday. The little male
was sitting on the clothesline pole,
while the female was hopping around the
yard selecting bits and pieces of nesting

Then, just before I left the house, I
saw a Carolina wren sitting on top of the
chiminea, singing his little heart out.
I could tell, 'cause his whole body was
thrown into song and his tail was popping
up and down in time to his music.

I'm not sure if you know what a chiminea
is or not. It's a freestanding front-loading fireplace or oven with a bulbous body
and a vertical smoke vent or chimney.
Larry gave it to me. They had 3 or 4 of
them in the yard on Winn St.

Got dusting and cleaning to do today, as well
as getting the clothes in from the line. Most
of it was still damp late yesterday, so I
just left it all out there. I knew it
wasn't going to rain. They got damp again
overnight from the dew but they're almost
dried back out now.

Dinner today will be hot Italian sausage, rice
and crowder peas. I've a cucumber and a tomato
I can slice up, too.

Hey, Dad.

I made it to the weekend.

I'm just really downhearted. I
expected new duties but not to
this extent. It's the equivalent
of two jobs. I'll be expected to
accomplish all of them daily and
it is just not going to happen. I
hope I don't get in trouble for not
getting things done.

I'll try not to think about work
after I leave the office. It's
hard to keep those little niggling
thoughts from creeping in.

For my own sanity, I'm going to have
to try adopting the Scarlett O'Hara

"I'll worry about it tomorrah."

I spoke briefly with our cousin last
night. I'll be going over this morning.
She mentioned that she'd been thinking
about going to Walmart but just hasn't
done it. I offered to take her today.
She said she'd think about it, that it
wasn't anything pressing. I told her
I don't mind but she so afraid she's
going to 'impose' on someone.

Gus has gained weight and is looking
sassy. He's still kind of skittish.
I notice that he's not hiding or
sleeping quite as much in the front
bedroom. At first, he'd only come out
after dark. He's relaxed enough to
be snoozing on my ottoman right now.

Yeah, it's more work having a pet. But
it is nice to have a little companionship
in the evenings after Hubby goes to bed.

Enjoy your Saturday, Dad.

right now.

Hey, Dad.

I feel like Sisyphus. That fellow from Greek myth that was punished by the gods and forced to push a boulder up a mountain for all eternity. He gets it to the top and it rolls back down the hill. A never ending cycle.

Except that my boulder seems to get bigger and bigger each day.

I sent a long email to Aunt "C" last night. Not sure just how much of what I told her made any sense, since she probably doesn't have a clue about half the things I was talking about. I was sorry to unload on her but it did make me feel a little better that I got some things off my chest about work. I've tried talking with Hubby but I can see his eyes glazing over. It is hard for someone outside the office to really understand.

I guess all I can do is try to take it one job/one step at a time and one day at a time. It's just very frustrating.

At least I'll get a two day break. Housework hasn't looked this good in a long time!

I'll give our cousin a call this evening and, if she's free in the morning, I'll go over for a little while.

Enjoy this nicer weather we're having. Sit out on your deck and watch the birds.

Thought I'd better get back here and let you
know I survived the day. Barely. I am

I'm the lucky recipient of several new job
duties. Some of them have been sitting for
several weeks, with no one handling them. I
have a lot of work ahead of me to get
all of that backlog caught up.

I'm wondering if I'm going to be able to
handle all of the jobs that are now my
responsibility. I'm starting to get a
little depressed.

I'm hoping that, as this reoganization goes
forward, things will settle down some. If
I can just hang on until then.

I still want to get up for a visit but I
have no idea when I'll be granted any leave.

If I can come up on a Sat and go home Sunday,
let me know when it will be suitable.

I'll try to check in tomorrow but I may have
to work through lunch again.

Hi, Dad...

Shorter post than usual today. I'm at sixes
and sevens with all the new work they
are giving me in preparation for this change.

Some of which, I have no idea what to do with.
They're going to have to give me instructions.

Frankly, I thought some of this stuff was
being handled by another area. Evidently they
weren't or the powers that be decided to shift
them all to me, like I don't have anything to

I'm hoping things settle down soon. I don't
know how long I can keep my work done.

Hope you're having a better day than I am.

Hi, Dad.

Still rather dreary down here. I
thought I saw some sunshine on the wall
next door but it's gone now.

Have a dental appt this afternoon, so
I'm scrambling to get my work done. Of
course, my boss picked today to tap me
for a project.

If you've been over to my blog, I'm
guessing you have a dictionary handy by
now. We're definitely having fun with
big words, aren't we?

That's what happens with you get a bunch
of teachers, writers and readers together.

By the way, a cruciverbalist is someone
who either creates, or enjoys working,
crossword puzzles and word games.

Hi, Dad.

The morning commute was fun today.
Lots of fog and the traffic was
terrible. I think I got stuck at
every single red light on the way
to town.

I hope Hubby was careful out on his
route. He doesn't always take the
weather conditions into consideration
as he does his deliveries. He's more
concerned with a time schedule.

It's cleared up out there. I can see
some sunshine on the wall of the
building next door. That's about all
I can see from the windows nearest me.

I do see another line of storms moving
towards SC. You may get more of that
than we will, I think. It's moving more
northeast, parallel to the coast.

We'll see. Our forecast is for 'possible
showers' pretty much all week and then
Friday, they're talking about possible
severe thunderstorms.

Better get over to my blog and see what's
happening before lunch is over.

Hey, Dad.

I'm a bit late getting here today.

Been reading the Sunday paper, getting
the last bit of laundry done, etc.

What laundry I've done today is hanging
inside. I am glad I got all the heavy stuff
washed and dried yesterday. I knew I
wouldn't be able to hang it out today.

Hubby is scraping and painting windows
in the front bedroom. Has the poor cat
freaked out and hiding in the closet.

Skye, it's pretty much raining state wide
today. It makes the temps out there
seem a lot colder, esp with the wind.

It was pretty clear yesterday afternoon, tho
the wind was blowing pretty hard. I could
feel the truck fighting it, as I was on
my way to Walmart around 4:00. Good thing
I don't have to take that Ravenel bridge.
I'm sure the winds up there were pretty stiff.

Not doing much of anything today for dinner.
I picked up one of those frozen Tyson meat
loafs at Walmart. I had some limas left over
from our Christmas dinner in the freezer.
I'll fix a little rice and that's what we'll
have today.

Hope you two stay inside where it is nice and
warm and dry.

Hi, Dad.

I guess ya'll are about as wet as we are.
At least, it's not freezing cold.

No visit to our cousin today. I spoke
with her briefly last night and she'll be
going to the polls today. I'm not sure
what time but she asked for a rain check
on our usual Sat morning coffee and chat.

Gus has an appt with the vet at 9:00 this
morning for the second feline leukemia shot.
It is a highly contagious disease with cats
and vets pretty much require innoculations
to reduce the risk of spreading it to other
cats in the office. Most groomers and
boarding kennels won't take your cat without
proof that they're leukemia free and have
had their shots.

He did test leukemia free 3 weeks ago but,
with him being a stray, there's no proof
he's had all the shots. So, we had to
start from scratch.

I'm hoping that my new manager will move me
this coming week. She sounded like she was
inclined to do this sooner than later.

I hope so.

Right now, I have NO backup if I'm out. The
two people who left last week were the ones
that covered for me. The three girls who
are left haven't a clue on how to work my desk.
Nor do they have access to programs that are
needed to do my work.

I could still come up for an overnighter on a
weekend, if "L" will let me know when it is
convenient for her. Come up Sat and go back
Sun. I know that's shorter than what she
prefers but right now that is about all I can

Anyway, I hope you two have a good weekend.
Tell "L" to be careful on those wet roads, if
she gets out and about.

Hi, Dad.

I see ya'll a a good bit chillier than
we are. It's in the mid 60's here.
The temp on your little weather sticker
for Greenwood shows 50F.

Having a soybean burger on multigrain
bread and tomato soup for lunch today.

My Hewlett Packard printer on my desk
fell apart again a couple of days ago.
I've be gluing this one piece back on for
over 5 years. One of the girls told me
I needed to call the repairman. I
replied, "Glue is what the repairman
told me to use." The glue will only
hold it for so long. I am tired
of gluing it back.

I found an old Brothers printer in the
break room, stacked with phones and whatnot
that are no longer being used. I brought
it back to my desk, manually installed
the thing (I didn't have the software
that came with it.) It is so old,
it wasn't even listed in the printer
install list. I just picked one of
the same brand with a model number as
close to it as I could. It prints
REAL slow but it works.

Another day on Beetle Rock.

Hi, Dad,

I had a good meeting with my new
supervisor and manager this morning.

I think they were a bit surprised to
hear all the different things that I'm
responsible for handling. Some things
probably should be handled by other areas
of the office. I think they'll be
looking at shifting some things away from
me. Of course, they'll be shifting some
things TO me, as well. Stuff that the
girls in that area already handle.

Which is cool. They're to learn my job and
I am to learn theirs, which will provide us
all with backup when we're out. They rotate
some duties down there, which keeps everyone
up to speed on how to do things.

I think they may move me soon. I think they'll
do that, while they're still looking at who
needs to do what and reorganize the various

Hi, Dad.

Wet and dreary here today. Temps are not too
bad, though.

Had our monthly staff meeting this morning.
It always tends to throw me off schedule but
I think I'll be able to finish up everything
before I leave today.

I spotted two possums last night. I suspect it
is getting to that time of year when the little
boy possums start pitching woo. The one trailing
after the first one had his nose stuck up the
first one's butt until it turned around and
snapped at the intrusion. First possum
scuttled off, while Second possum stood there
in bewilderment. They ain't the brightest
bulbs in the package, are they?

Not much else to report.

Haven't heard anything from "L" about what
weekend she thinks is best for me to come
up for an overnight.

Changes at work still seem to be in limbo.
They probably won't tell us until right
when they do it.

I wish they'd get moving, so I'd know where
and what to do.

I do have a meeting with my new bosses
to go over stuff that I do and answer their

Hey, Dad.

I see you're a bit on the chilly
side and getting some rain.

We're a bit warmer but it looks
really cloudy outside.

I finally unstuck the tail
gate on the truck. It still seems
really stiff. Maybe if I squirt some
WD40 around, it'll loosen up some.

You know what they say: If it moves,
and it shouldn't, use duct tape. If
it should move and doesn't, use WD40.

Rather busy here today.

Did I tell you I think I finally
spotted the ISS passing overhead the other
night? That's the Space Station.

I'd been trying off and on for quite
a while. It was when I quit looking for
it, that it cooperated!

I saw it Sat night about 10:30. Sunday
night it was a little after 11:00.

I got all excited!

Happy Monday, Dad.

Things are kind of quiet here today. About
half the office took MLK Day off.

For some reason, I can't get the tailgate
open on my truck. I had to think back to
when was the last time I lowered it.

It was New Year's Eve, I think it was, when
I took a load of stuff to Goodwill. I let
the gate down to unload things but I
remember that when I tried to put it back up,
it didn't want to close all the way. I gave
it a hard shove and shut the tonneau cover.

When I tried to lower it this weekend when I
went to Walmart, it refused to budge. I was
trying to get a big box of kitty litter back
there. It was too heavy for me to lift over,
so I had to put it in the cab.

Hubby wasn't able to budge it, either. I
dont' know what's wrong with it. It's
jammed or something. Another inconvience to
deal with. I won't bother taking it in until
I can't put up with it anymore. I'm sure
the dealership will quote some humongeous
price to fix it.

Maybe Hubby and I can get it unjammed, if we
fiddle with it some more.

As long as it runs, that's what counts.

I do have to say it's been nice having the
cargo door handle fixed.

Well, lunch is about over. Will talk to
you later.

When "L" decides what weekend will be best for
her, for me to come up for a quick overnight
visit, let me know.

A longer visit will have to wait until all
these changes at work are in place and things
settle down.

Hi, Dad.

Good news about our cousin's friend,
Sister "N". She called Friday night to
let our cousin know that she was home
and had been home. She said the trip
was just so exhausting that she'd not
called anyone or done anything, since
she got back.

I mentioned that the Diocese would have
known she was home. Our cousin said
she realizes that they would but hadn't
wanted to take that step yet or bother
them, unnecessarily.

She was very relieved to get that call.

I was disappointed in what Dillards had
for sale. I had some particular items
I was hoping to find but saw little I
liked or needed. OR at a price I wanted
to pay. I'll probably have better luck
at the local thrift shops.

I went on down to Walmart, got my scrip
refilled, got some cleaning supplies and

I watched "The King's Speech" last night.
I like the actors in it and usually try
to catch any movie they're in. I enjoyed
it very much. I knew King George VI had
a lifelong stammering problem. Having to
speak publicly was something he dreaded.
When he became king, by default, it was
a problem he had to overcome. His therapist
was unorthodox but his methods worked.

I spotted a male bluebird at the bluebird
house earlier this morning, as I was hanging
out the first load of laundry. I know it was
a male, as he was in and about the house,
singing. I can't hear him but I could see
his little body and tail twitching with the
effort to attract a lady love.

Hope you have a good Sunday.

Hi, Dad.

Nippy down here this morning. I'm sure
the temps up there are much colder.

I'll be going over to see our cousin
around 10:30 or so.

She said she's been staying home most
of this week. She doesn't like the
cold much.

She had her Faith Group at the house
Monday night. She went to get her
hair done yesterday. A few people
have popped in to visit.

She's worried about one of the Sisters
from church. Sister 'N' went to Ireland
over the Christmas holidays and was due
back shortly after New Years. She
hasn't come home and no one has heard
from her since she called a few people
Christmas Day. I don't know if she has
talked to one of the Fathers at Nativity.
I'd think that, if Sister 'N' was sick,
or otherwise delayed, someone would have
called the Diocese.

I've a busy weekend. They always seem to
be. All the laundry and errands that
need to be done.

Still no word at work about when they're
going to make The Big Move. I think
one of the things they're waiting on is
for our billing provider to re-do how
the claims download to the girls. They
have them set up now by alpha listing, by
patient last names. They're changing it
so that each biller will handle certain
types of insurance. It takes a while for
the company that owns our billing program
to make those changes. I think things will
move faster once that happens.

Well, I need to check my email, then get
showered, dressed and over to James Island.

Hi, Dad.

We're still in limbo here at work. We've
made a few minor changes but I wish they'd
go ahead and move us to our respective
areas and get done with it, so I can get
settled in.

I want to put in my leave request to come
up for a couple of days. They're still
telling me "Let's wait and see."

It was cool out this morning but not
freezing. That might change tonight and
tomorrow night.

Gus better be thanking his lucky stars he's
not having to stay outside in the cold. He
was so emaciated, I don't think he would have
lasted much longer out there.

When I left for work this morning, he was
sprawled out on my footstool, snoring away.

He's put on weight; I can still feel his bones
but he's not the bag of fur and bones that he
was two weeks ago.

He's turning into a beautiful cat. White
undercarriage and orange tabby on top. His
fur is getting nice and shiny.

I'll give our cousin a call this evening
and see if she wants company in the
morning for a little while. I'll go over
and have a cup of coffee and chat a bit.

Hey, Dad.

We didn't even get a quarter of an inch
in rain yesterday. I checked the gauge
when I got home.

Not much to report.

There's still some back and forth, lots of
questions being asked (Who will do this?
What will we do with that?) but there's been no
BIG change at work yet.

I've had to assume some duties from the two
people that resigned this week. Reports they
worked, mostly. Some of them, I'm not really
sure what to do with them. I'll learn.

We have several meetings lined up to hash some
of these things out.

I've got a dentist appt next Friday for xrays
and cleaning. I suspect I may have to have a
filling redone. I think I see a crack in it.

I notice it's getting cooler again. I guess
you two will really get cold the next few days.

We'll go down to around 32 the next few nights
but I don't think the daytime temps will be
too bad.

You stay inside and stay warm!

Hi, Dad.

We never did get rain yesterday.

It looks a bit overcast out there

Have you seen that beautiful full
moon the last couple of nights?
Absolutely gorgeous.

With clouds moving in, we probably
won't be able to see it tonight.
Plus it will be starting to wane.

I scared Gus this morning. I can't sing.
I sound like a banshee in a bear trap.
But I'd had this old Rolling Stones song
stuck in my head and I was belting it
out, while getting dressed this a.m.

Poor Gus. I spotted him out the corner
of my eye, wide eyed and slinking, belly
to the ground, into the front bedroom.
He hid in the closet. I apologized but
he just stared balefully at me and
refused to budge.

Hi, Dad.

(Hey, wab!)

Really busy here today. Mondays have three
days worth of work from over the weekend, so
it usually is very busy.

I thought we were going to get rain today.
The sun is out right now. The radar looks
like most of it is passing north of us.

For the moment. I know there's more coming
our way.

TX sure needs the rain. Shore said they
were getting light showers in League City,
which is in the Galveston bay area.

Most of GA is in severe drought, too.

I heard that Mt. Etna has been erupting.

Better get busy...

Hi, Dad.

It's a really nice day today. Warm
and sunny. Good thing, too, as I
have all the week's laundry going.

Had a nice visit with our cousin
yesterday. Told her all about the
changes at work.

She'd given us each some money for
Christmas and I told her what I'd
gotten with my part of it: a really
nice thistle feeder like yours, a
small field guide to SC trees and
a new dish drain and mat to go under

I'd spotted that field guide in Barnes
and Nobles back before Christmas, when
I was in there looking around for a
few gifts. Since I was not shopping
for 'me', I passed on it. The day we
went to buy our mattress and box springs,
I had Hubby stop by B&N. They still had
the book, so I got it. It's very informative.

Your Christmas check went towards the mattress
and box springs. Like everything else, those
have gone up in price since the last time we
bought a set. Hubby has seen all these ads on
TV for Tempupedic and Sleepnumber sets. He
was thinking of getting one of those. I knew
what they cost and I'd told him. He didn't
believe me. He believes me now! We bought
just a regular set.

It sleeps well but they make those things a
whole lot thicker than they used to. Since
we have that older bedstead that is higher
than the plain metal bedframes, I almost need
a ladder to get on the bed. If either of us
ever rolls off in the night, we're going to
really hurt ourselves!

We can't sit on the bed to put our socks and
shoes on - our feet dangle above the floor.

All those little myrtle warblers are flitting
around out there again this morning. There
must be 20 of them. Lovely little things,
with that flash of lemon yellow on their rumps.

Happy Saturday, Dad.

The meeting was more to allay any
fears we had about the change and
to answer questions. I'm not worried
but two of the girls were getting
themselves stressed out.

The changes will be instituted over
the next few weeks. They're still
hashing out details and there is
groundwork with the computer programs
we use that have to be put into place.

As long as I have a job and a paycheck
coming in, they can do with me what they
will. Nothing at work stays the same
forever and I think some change will be
good for me.

If you've been over to my blog, you'll
see that I've finally decided on a name
for the cat: Gus.

He is a sweet thing; definitely a cuddly
lap cat. A big change from my last two.

I'll be going over to see our cousin this
morning. She said her daughter and grand
daughter were supposed to come over today.
This particular granddaughter is a sophmore
at Clemson. She leaves tomorrow to go
back to school after her Christmas break.

I took your Wood Ducks print in to be
reframed a week ago. They called me at
work yesterday to tell me it was ready to
be picked up. I'll have to do that before
2:00 this afternoon; they close early on
Saturdays. They close at 5 during the week.
I didn't make it to the shop in time, after

I'll say one thing: the price of matting
and framing pictures has shot up
since the last time I had anything done.
I realize that print is large but
the price still made me choke! They do
good work, though.

I'll be hanging it in the dining room,
over the buffet. The print has faded
some over the years; the dining room does
not get direct sunlight, making it the best
place to put it.

Hope you two have a good day!
