Hi, Dad.

Big dinner today at work. Covered dish.
One entire group from our office is
being moved West Ashley and we're giving
them a good send off.

WAY too much food and all of it good.

Will see you tomorrow!

Hi, Dad.

Really, really busy today. I have a feeling
that my desk is not going to look too good
when it comes quiting time tomorrow afternoon.

It seems like every time I plan to take off,
a whole pile of, of.. well, garbage lands on
my desk and it's too much to clear out before
I leave.

But leaving I will be. You can expect me
around lunchtime Friday. Sometime between
11:30 and 12:00 or a little after, depending
on how early I can get out of the house, what
the morning traffic is and how many pit stops
I wind up making.

Just remember that I'll need to leave Sunday
after lunch.

Looking forward to seeing you and spending
a couple of days visiting.

Hi, Dad.

Had a pretty good visit with Mama's
cousins from Belton.

They bring up the whole clan, dogs and
all. There's a great grandbaby now.

Left a bit earlier than I usually do, as
the sky was starting to get kinda black
towards town. I didn't want to be on
that Ravenel Bridge in wind and rain, not
to mention afternoon commute traffic.

I got home with time to spare before
it started raining.

Hi, Dad.

From what I see in the forecast, it looks
like there's gonna be scattered showers and
thunderstorms Fri, Sat and Sun. Just hope
that I can nip up and back and scoot through
in between them.

I'll be headed over to the Isle of Palms in
a little bit to visit with Mama's cousins.

A bit awkward, with me taking Friday off but
it's the only time I get to see them. I'll
be scrambling the rest of the week to get
my desk cleared by 4:00 Thursday.

It didn't help that I've had computer issues
here at work this morning. Can't get to one
of the main programs I need to work in. So,
I'm already behind.

I've been waiting on the computer guy to come
over but I think he's gonna get here after I

Had a nice visit with our cousin Friday after
work. She did have plans again Sat morning
with her daughter.

They've hung a couple of things up and brought
some more family pictures, a throw and some
colorful pillows for her bed. Now her room
doesn't look quite so bare.

I think she's really enjoying all the people
and activities. I think she's a bit like Papa.
Didn't quite realize how isolated and lonely
she was, even though lots of people called or
came by to check on her. She was still sitting
in that house by herself a lot.

Hey, Dad.

It has been a bit cooler this past couple of
days. I've even cut the A/C off and opened
the doors early in the a.m or around 8:00. It
would be cooler outside than it was inside.

The Columbia-Owens Airport made the Wunderground
record/event map for having a record low for
June 8th of 62F.

I just found out that my alter ego, Other Bug
(the card board cut out of myself) has surfaced
again and is now in Orlando, FL with Ogal and
her Hubby. It had spent the last year in Alaska.

I'll have to show you the pictures when I come
up next weekend.

I can't believe that thing has been circulating
for 5 years now. From Alaska to England, from
FL to TX to California to Connecticut, to Vermont
the FL Keys and Lord knows where all else.

will be going over to BG to see our cousin after
work today. She told me last night that her
daughter will be coming by to get her Sat
morning to do some things, so after work today
was the best time to go.

Hi, Dad.

We got 2 1/2 inches of rain at the house

I had no problems going home. It was overcast
but it wasn't raining. I think it cleared
off some last night, too.

Not much to report today except I'm really
busy. I get a lot of work around the 6th of the
month. Everything piles up on me all at one
time. Lots of fun and games.

Hi, Dad.

It was a really WET commute into town
this morning. When I was ready to leave
the house, it was absolutely POURING.

I waited a bit but it wasn't slowing down and
I had to get going. The front yard was about
3 inches deep in water, so had to remove shoes,
roll up the pants legs and wade, while juggling
shoes, lunch bag, umbrella, etc.

Gus spent two hours yesterday, when I got home,
trying to make up with me. I know he has no
idea why I was ignoring him but he knew something
was up. He kept sitting on the ottoman, looking
at me and crying. He'd tentatively put one paw
on the edge of my chair, then pull it back.

I finally made eye contact and said, "Okay. Come on."
He stretched himself up my chest, stared into my
eyes and purred. I told him, "I'm still
disappointed in you. Get all the mice, rats, mole
crickets, bugs you want but leave the baby birds

Hi, Dad.

Not much to report today, except that
I'm not speaking to Gus. I am highly
upset with him

He nipped out the back door early yesterday
evening, when I went to put some stuff in the
recycling bin.

When I went to the door later, to see if
he wanted in, I found that he'd killed a
baby blue bird.

I know he's just following his nature but
why couldn't he have found a mouse, a cricket
or something?

Hi, Dad.

Have you been watching the Queen's
Diamond Jubilee events? CNN is
carrying most of them live.

I watched the boat procession
yesterday. It was an amazing sight.

Too bad I'm at work today and tomorrow;
I won't be able to watch live. I'll
have to see if I can find film clips
somewhere online and watch.

Looks like we'll have rain pretty much
all week. It was raining this morning
when I left for work. It wasn't too bad
and it slacked off after a few minutes.
I had no problems.

I bagged up some things yesterday to take
to Goodwill the next time I go that way.
I want to sort through a few more drawers
and cabinets this week and haul it all in
next Saturday on my way to Walmart.

Better go; got things to do.

Hi, Dad.

I finally figured out how to get my Norton antivirus subscription transferred over to my laptop. I'm now back online at home.

Had a nice visit with our cousin Friday after work. It took me a couple of loops around Bishop Gadsden to find the unit she is in. The parking lot for it is very, very small, so I had to find someplace else to park and walk over.

The unit is very nice. Self contained, with dining hall, common rooms, a kitchen, all sorts of areas to sit, read, play cards or games, etc.

Her room is extremely small. It does have a nice big walk in closet and the bathroom is fair sized. She has room for a double bed, two end tables, two arm chairs and an ottoman. She does have a nice view out her window to one of the several gardens for that unit.

She is on the waiting list for an efficiency apartment. There are two people on the list ahead of her. I hope she gets in to one soon.

she and her daughter have not done much in the way of decorating her room, in anticipation of getting an efficiency apartment.

She had her house phone number transferred, so you can call her at her old number. She doesn't have many monthly minutes on her cell, which she prefers to use only for long distance calls.

She is still a bit overwhelmed with all the activities and all the new people to meet.

She says she is sleeping good. That's probably because they get her up for breakfast at 8:00 and keep her busy all day.

Better get off here and get my stuff together for lunch.

I've been on here the better part of an hour, getting my Norton anti virus downloaded, doing a restart and checking out the display for the program. Its a bit different from what I had.

Love you and looking forward to seeing you Fathers Day.

Hi, Dad.

Happy June 1st!

I see Sandi and Pros have been by.

I'll be going over to see our cousin
after work today.

I saw her the weekend before she moved but
have not been over since. Her daughter had
been coming by every weekend to help her
finish getting settled in, going back to the
house to get things she'd forgotten and now
feels she needs, running errands, etc.

I've got some more things I want to get done
this weekend and I've a feeling that she may
be tied up again with her daughter.

I decided to call and see if she'd mind me
coming by after work today. I get off around
4:00 and they don't serve dinner there until

OH! And she now has a phone in her room. You
don't have to call her on her cell; that was
just temporary. Her phone number did NOT
change, either. It is still the same number
she had at the house. She still has her cell
but that's for carrying around with her.

I will be coming up Friday June 15th; get there
around lunchtime, as usual. I'll have to head back
Sunday after lunch.

Got about 2 inches of rain. Had one
little power flicker last night.

My morning commute was fine. Hope
Hubby was careful last night during the
wee hours. I think that's when most of
the heaviest rain was expected.

Didn't get the projects done, like I wanted but
we did do some other household and yard jobs
that needed doing.

Didn't get over to see our cousin Saturday, as
her daughter was coming by Sat morning to take

Her youngest granddaughter was graduating from

I had BBQ sandwiches, coleslaw, potato salad,

Hi, Dad.

We tried to call you on your house phone
around 5:00 yesterday evening but there
seemed to be something wrong with the lines.
Hubby kept getting a message that the number
had been disconnected.

We then tried L's cell phone but Hubby must
have dialed wrong, as he got a wrong number.

I'm starting to wonder if he dialed the wrong
area code or something. I can see not getting
through on one line but not both.

anyhoo, we wanted to wish you happy birthday
by voice. I hope you got your card. I meant
to put it in the mail Monday but walked out
of the house and didn't remember to put it in
the mailbox. I dropped it off at the Post Office
on the way to work the next morning.

I'll call our cousin tonight and see how she
is doing. I might go over tomorrow if she
doesn't have anything on her calendar.

As far as I know, she does not have phone in her
room. She told me to tell everyone to call her
on her cell.

Have a couple of projects to do this weekend.
Clean out and reorganize the shed. I'm tired of
climbing over things to get to stuff. Most of it
needs to be thrown out.

I want to go through my buffet and sort things for
keep, trash or donate to Goodwill. I want to get
all my booze and wine in one side of it, instead of
squirreled away in this cabinet and that and over
here in the corner and there's some over there.

Hope you enjoy your weekend. It looks like we
might have a tropical depression or storm
building up off the coast. Again.

It's always something, ain't it?

to run a few errands, I think.

about the possibility of someone
coming by without calling first
and she won't be in her room
to meet them. Frankly, she can't go
too far; unless she's gone out with
someone, she won't be that hard to find.

Plus, I think a lot of her friends are
wanting to come by to see her new place

I'll wait until things settle down for her
a bit. I might try visiting this weekend.

Hi, Dad.

that tooth that was prepped Wednesday for
the crown has settled down and isn't
throbbing. Thank goodness. I had
several people ask me yesterday if I was OK.

Hubby's mama has been in MUSC since last weekend.
The side effects from her chemo had laid her low
and she apparently thought it was normal and
didn't contact her doctor. Hubby's older brother
came to town to see her, took one look and hauled
her in.

I've been walking over there after work. She
looked much, much better yesterday. She thinks
she may go home tomorrow.

Her daughter came down from Charlotte and will stay a while longer. Her youngest son lives at home, so she's not alone.

We got a good inch of rain Wed. I went straight home and it was pouring the whole way. We needed it. The river birch out front was stressed and had started to drop leaves left and right.

Hi, Dad.

I am in it up to my eyeballs this week. It's
the downside to taking time off.

It wasn't just Friday. We get work for the
entire weekend, so Monday's always have a
high volume of work.

My dentist's new office is gorgeous. I think
it harks back to beach bungelows of the 20's
and 30's. Wide plank hardwood floors, beadboard,
lots of white trim, high ceilings.

they have wide screen TVs attached to the
ceilings over the dental chairs, so you have
something to watch while they work on you. If
you can see past the hands, fingers, drills,
suction tubes, etc. Not TV shows; they have
slide shows of landscapes, funny pictures, all
kinds of stuff.

Either they had me in the Carolina room or
someone there doesn't like Clemson. I saw
several pictures of Clemson players being
tackled by Gamecocks. HERESY!!!!

One of the crowns that broke isn't going to
be covered by my dental insurance. They
won't pay to replace a crown less than 5 years
old. So, we're going to have to cough up the
total charge on that one. The other one will
be covered but the insurance only pays for
about half of the total charge. I need to
rob a bank.

Better get back to work.

OH... that movie I told you about? Have
Laura see if the local library has the CD.

It was called "The King's Speech". It was
excellent and I think you'll really enjoy

Rats, rats, rats.

That crown that broke? It wasn't 5 years old
yet and my dental insurance won't cover
replacements until they're 5 years old or

I'm gonna have to cough up the full price.

And I have another one, on the other side,
that will need to be redone, too.

I'd cracked two within a week of each other.

The earliest I could get an appt was for
today at 11:00. Which plays havoc with
eating lunch. I'm sipping on tomato soup.

I forgot my grapefruit when I left to come
home. It is in the icebox. Either give it
away or throw it out.

I miss 'em already. I love grapefruit.

I'll have to talk to Dr. Geer and see if I
have to avoid them completely or if I can
have some on occasion. I see different
things online, when looking this up. Some
say none at all, others say small amounts are
fine, every now and then.

grapefruit in your icebox.

Since neither of you can eat it, either give it
away or just throw it out.

I started my cholesterol meds Sunday night, so no
more grapefruit for me. SOB.......

I'm having to watch Gus very closely. I think
the bluebird babies must be cheeping in their
bluebird house. Every time I've let him out
since I got home, he's made a beeline for the
post it's on and sits there staring up at the

I'm scared to death that one of the babies
will fledge out - right into Gus' mouth!

another thing? Gus watches TV. Some of my
other cats would watch for a minute or two,
if some movement or noise caught their attention,
but none of them sat and watched. Not like
Gus is doing. I was watching an animated movie,
"Ice Age". Gus was glued to it almost the entire
time. Esp. when Scrat, that rat-like squirrel
creature would run through the scene with his
acorn. That would really get Gus' attention!

It was too funny.

Hi, Dad,

Hubby was already in bed asleep when I got home a little before 6:00 last night.

I tried calling the house phone via Relay to leave a message but it rang and rang and rang and the answering machine never picked up.

So, I had them call "L's" cell phone to leave a message. Or get her. But it rang and rang and flipped over to her messages. I hope she checked them, as I know you worry about me getting home OK.

Which I did. I ran into a shower just after I left Pelion but it wasn't hard and it didn't last more than a few minutes.

I hit another little shower after I left Harleyville but it didn't last long.

By the time I got to Ridgeville, the sun was out.

There had been a bit of rain along Hwy 61; just enough to wet the pavement but the ground on either side still looked dry.

It does take me a while longer to get home going that way but it is a more interesting drive. I also take another pit stop at I95 and 178, outside St. George, which adds a few minutes.

Hubby did wake up, somewhat, when I came in the house but he was so groggy, I didnt make him get up to call you.

Gus was overjoyed to see me. He stuck to me all evening like a cocklebur on a dog!

I did meet with the Knology techs at the house around 11:00 and they got me up and running with a router and internet access. No charge, either. If I had gone with Geek Squad from Best Buy, I'd have been charged for the home visit, the router, labor, etc.

So, all I had to pay was 30.00 to get Geek Squad to hack that password off my laptop, so I'd be able to get into it to use it. I did that about a week ago.

I did enjoy our visit this weekend. The lunch with the family was nice. Don't forget to give that envelope to Uncle G or Aunt C the next time you see them.

Hubby was thrilled with the socks, shoes, pccket T's and the lawn chairs. I've got several cans of hunter green spray paint for plastic, so can give them a makeover this weekend. He was intrigued with the blood pressure cuff. I want us both to take our BP regularly so we can take the readings in when we go to the doctor.

Well, I've gabbed enough. Got lots to do and I'd better get busy.

I'll touch base with you again at lunchtime tomorrow!

Love you.
