... Winter Storm Warning in effect from 5 am Wednesday to 11 am
MST Friday...

The National Weather Service in Cheyenne has issued a Winter
Storm Warning for heavy snow, which is in effect from 5 am
Wednesday to 11 am MST Friday. The Winter Storm Watch is no longer
in effect.

* Timing... periods of snow will begin late tonight and continue
through Thursday night.

* Total snow accumulations... 12 to 24 inches with locally higher
amounts across west and north facing slopes and ridges

* winds/visibility... southwest 20 to 30 mph with higher gusts...
becoming north on Thursday. Visibilities below one half mile
in falling snow and patchy blowing snow.

* Impacts... mainly to travel and outdoor recreation. Mountain
travel will be dangerous with slick snowpacked roads and low
visibilities Wednesday through Thursday night.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...



A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of
snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in
an emergency. If you must travel... keep an extra flashlight...
food... and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
